*sigh*

He's a short player who dominated College hockey.
Gerbe is a short player who actually had better numbers playing for the same program.

I also think you're cute....you have no idea what you are talking about...but cute none-the-less.

He has a better chance to be Marty Murray than Theo Fleury.

- stormey

Oh ya? No idea huh?

Let's see.

Gerbe:
1st season (BC): 11G, 7A, 18Pts.
2nd Season (BC): 25G, 22A, 47 Pts.

Gaudreau:
1st Season (BC): 21G, 23A, 44Pts
2nd Season (BC): 21G, 30 A, 51 Pts.

Ya... I don't know what I'm talking about because you are totally right, Gerbe's numbers are way better...

You left out that Gaudreau only played 35 games last year to Gerbe's 41 during his second season.....

At the end of the day it's a pretty useless argument, college stats are pretty irrelevant. But I hate when people make assumptions about player.

"Oh Gaudreau is small, plays NCAA, for the same team, he must be EXACTLY like Nathan Gerbe"

No, he probably isn't. He's a completely different person/player.

Gerbe also 19 when he started in the NCAA, Gaudreau 18. Whatever though, development is different for each player, but I disagree with my pal Sean on this one.

Yeah I just hate comparisons like that in general....

Like when Oilers fans try to compare our rebuilds..."Gagner was our Backlund, Cogliano was our Baertschi, its the exact same, you will be rebuilding for 7 years, BLAH BLAH BLAH."

Just shut it.....

Please provide links... Whenever the likes of Gagner, Cogliano or Nillson comes up in conversation it is almost invariably initiated by a Flames troll.

All Jankowski will be is the Janitor mopping up floors at the Saddledome.

If there ever was a bust from last year's draft, it'll be the Janitor.

I know a scout who watched him 5 times last season in Providence, one night he looked pretty good, the next game you would think he was a scratch - totally invisible as the blog suggests.

Does he have skill, absolutely but as this scout pointed out to me, he needs to work on everything if he ever is going to have a shot at pro hockey.

- newmy

He was only 17 jumping from prep school hockey to NCAA hockey east. He is exactly what he was touted as, a long term project.

I still think he should have gone to the USHL like he originally planned. The jump in competition was obviously a bit much. He should look better next season...might even make the Canadian WJC's...though he's a bit of a longshot.

Ok "Marshalle" The Great and Powerful

If it was written, I am willing to bet it was written by one ill-informed poster.

But please, continue to speak in absolutes and paint an entire fan base with one brush. Idiot...

Last I checked 63 points trumps 51.

And I stand by it.....he has a better chance to be Marty Murray than Fleury or St. Louis.

Nah, the Flames have been watching the Oil - they'll do the "Alberta Rebuild" by ignoring defence.
- magmoo

Weak. Conservatively, the Oilers have 5 NHL dmen in the pipeline. The Flames just started their build, and will no doubt diversify in the draft as soon as next year.

1st - I don't think the turnaround was because Button was demoted. It is because of the change in drafting philosophy initiated by Feaster and fine-tuned by Weisbrod.
2nd - Sieloff should have been in top 10. He may be the captain of the US team this year.
3rd - Kenneth Agostino from the Iginla trade should have been an honorable mention. I think he was the prospect Weisbrod was after.
4rth - Great read, thanks for posting.

It's been said many times....

Anyway's it was just an example. People see similarities in players/teams and assume the exact same outcome will prevail. Truth is it very rarely turns out the same.

The Flames have some decent D prospects but they are still a few years behind the Oilers ones. Tough to tell exactly what they are right now.

him playing on the jr canada squad was a nice surprise, I didn't expect that from him this year.
