Roberto Luongo has returned to the Vancouver Canucks goal crease as their starter, and the Edmonton Oilers were more than ready for him. The Oilers scored four goals in the opening 12 minutes of their preseason game and lead the Canucks 4-1 at the first intermission.

Lu or Schneider? |

Gillis looked sick the couple times he was shown on camera last night. He feeling ok? |

So what was once a top 3 goalie and the future of the Canucks is now nothing but a lowly ginger back-up tender with anxiety issues. |

Yeah, and Gretzky was a shyte coach, while Sakic doesn't know how to operate a snowblower |

So, who did Gillis f*ck more, trading Schneider to be a back-up at the prime of his career or keeping Luongo who long ago checked out of Vancouver? |

Neither.
Who Gillis really (frank)ed over was an entire fanbase who derserves better than the sh1t show he put on this summer.
I have no idea how you guys aren't calling for his head, because being left with Bo (frank)in' Horvat and an aging goalie that would rather be elsewhere after the way he was treated certainly doesn't cut it.
That trade officially closed Vancouver's window. |

and just what are you basing that on? A pre-season game full of prospects? Lu is a slow starter, we all know that, common knowledge around here.
If you guys weren't calling for Burke's head, which you weren't, after many years of no playoffs. Why would we be calling for Gillis's head when we make the playoffs every year. Add to that we've been to a Cup final in the past five years, something the Leafs have never done post expansion...46 years. |

Clarify....They said "skilled with the puck"...but unfortunately he is stupid and plays usually end up dying on his stick....
Hemsky sucks. Has always sucked. They have been looking for "someone to play with him" for years and it never works. Sooner or later people need to realize its him that is the problem. Let him play out this year or hope to god they can trade him at the deadline....then bye bye.... |

The 18 year old playing in his first NHL preseason/camp? Yup, throw in the towel and label him a bust. He's done.

So, by popular logic;
Luongo's 4 GA in 1 period = Canucks are (frank)ed.
By that same logic;
Eriksson's 0 GA in 1 period = Canucks are good, and Eriksson will win the Vezina. |

Exactly. The preseason is a gong show anyways. The roster is all over the place Luongo is playing in his first game in forever, not to mention the team is trying to learn a new system.
I'm not going to get overly concerned until it gets to a point where it looks like they might miss the playoffs. Preseason is the last place you should be pushing the panic button or planing parades. |

I dont understand why Jensen is floating around in the pre-season? He's more or less been penciled in because we know his development is beyond what he's showing in these two games. Torts is likely to lean towards grit if he doesnt show something soon. Jensen is risking leaving Torts with an impression that may pigeon hole him and timing to get out of it may be more difficult to come by in the reg season.
I really dont know what to expect but I have a fear that Jensen one day may Opt for Europe again especially under the weight of Torts.
If I were Nick, I'd block shots. Fail safe.... |

I know it's only been 2 pre-season games, but I've been disappointed. It;s not like he's a veteran player with a spot locked up that can just play at 80 or 90 percent just to get his feet wet for the regular season. He seems like a streaky player who needs his linemates to do the puck digging and set him up for scoring chances, I'm not sure if a prospect/rookie can get away with that style. Seems like he's still playing the patient, euro style game(I've heard the games in the KHL/SEL are more about patience and puck possession with the bigger ice surface and game tempo in general). He needs to bring another element(defensive play, forecheck, grit, etc.) to his game or I doubt we see him much this year in a Canuck uniform. Right now there's no way you justify giving him a roster spot or a few regular season games to start the season over a guy like Shinkaruk who's busting his ass and playing well. |

The Leafs having a better playoffs in April than our last two doesnt help after all we said about their post season success lately. Having so many Toronto friends on Facebook,,,, I got plastered there as well.

*If I had to choose* between Gaunce and Jensen for a winger position, I'd take Gaunce. He's already looking like he could be a gritty utility player at the very least and I've been looking at him as a poor man's Trevor Linden from his draft on.
I still think Gillis acquires a depth center.
