Luongo has been the best goalie the past 10 years, now he's only top 10. |

So this brings about the question, does Toews know hockey
You forgot part of the question:
"better than the other ten players who voted for someone else and 29 GM's who weren't willing to trade much for Luongo?"
And the answer is no. One good player throwing out Luongo's name for a random interview question (while shrugging his shoulder's as if saying "I guess") doesn't make the answer true.
Luongo is a good goalie. He had some time as one of the tops in the league. But after a couple years of Canucks fans whining about him getting starts over the superior Schneider; this backtracking and suggesting Luongo is one of the best in the game is just humorous. |

Wayne Gretzky said Ron Hextall was the best goalie he ever played against. So, by the logic here, Ron Hextall is one of the greatest goalies of all time...in fact, since Gretzky holds the record for career goals and points, that would make Hextall the greatest goalie of all time. I doubt most people would agree to that though. |

To me Lundqvist is a clear head above everyone right now, he's the best and he's been there for a long time. In the new NHL the team in front of the goalie makes a bigger difference than in the late 90's where a team could play the trap in front of a top goalie and win 1-0. |

Oh, but since you bring up espn's rankings; how about Bieksa and Edler being tied with JBo for 27th best D in the league?

ummm, I may be wrong on this one, but I don't think Toews does those rankings.
this was Toews' list, not ESPN's.
And yes, I put a heck of a lot more stock in what Toews has to say over the idiots at ESPN |

Lundqvist is the sexy choice, but he's overrated. The guy has never taken the Rangers anywhere. I'd take 3 guys over him. |

No he hasn't, but he won Sweden a gold medal in the Olympics. I'd say he and Quick are a tight top 2, and then there's guys like Rinne and Luongo after him. |

Luongo, Lack and Cannata are better. |

That was a pretty lousy list. There are several in the 9-26 range that I'd place all three ahead of.
Their goalie list was garbage as well.

This is nothing more than toews giving his choice for Canada's starting goalie .... Little surprised the captain of a team would not say his own goalie but to be fair anyone with any hockey knowledge should see that the starter job for Sochi is loungos to lose
As for best goalie in the nhl .... Lu doesn't crack the top 5 let alone top 10 right now ... But give him a full season as a starter behind torts system and he just may surprise a few Canuck haters/Lu doubters

Again, you put more stock in what Toews has to say than all the other players they asked; and all the GM's who didn't think Luongo was worth giving much up for? Toews just threw a random name out with a shrug of his shoulders. |
