He got caught flat footed defending at the blueline in the 1st, got beat to the outside badly and was forced to take a penalty.

He's been good, but that doesn't mean he isn't still caught behind the play at times.

It was kind of a weak call. He played over 17 minutes of solid Hockey, and centered the Flyers best line in the game. He's still young, so there is still going to be an occasional error. Overall, he's been outstanding. And that's all that matters. If he keeps playing at his current level of play, he's going to have a very good year.

So no one mentioned that we got to see our 5 on 3 penalty killers out there!

That's a bright spot right?
Gonna see that a lot this season.

The one on Couturier was far more legitimate than the one on Meszaros...all Meszaros did was lift the stick, which has been called "defense" for the past 100 years or so. Couturier did get the guy across the thighs with the stick, although he went down pretty easily.

The one on Mez was a nice, solid defensive play. Never came near hooking the guy. The Couturier one was a little weak but he definitely had his stick there.

Does anyone find it scary that the US government could stop fighting in hockey by pressing charges on the 2 people fighting?

Couldn't the same happen in UFC.
Bench clearing brawls in baseball

Heck, a body check is technically assault.

B Schenn has been mostly invisible in every game Ive seen so far this preseason.

I agree. I hate to say it but I've got a bad feeling about this young man.

I'm trying hard to find something he does well, or in what area he has made a notable progression, but I really can't. There are times when he makes his presence felt, but not nearly enough.

Same for every block and tackle in football.
In baseball, you can throw a ball 95+ MPH at a person.
In Nascar, you can hit someone else's car and cause them to crash violently.

What's the fine for assault? $500ish? It wouldn't stop fighting, I don't think. It might decrease the frequency of fighting.

EDIT: Noap. It's like up to 6 months in jail and $1000.

The kid has played 110 NHL games. He's still basically heading into his 2nd NHL Season in terms of games played. I think the kid deserves a little time. Especially when the upcoming Season hasn't even started.

I didn't tell you how to feel. I gave my opinion on that statement. You're entitled to feel however you want to. He still a young player, who is basically a 2nd year player. I think he deserves some time to develop.

Noted, but I haven't seen enough yet that makes me realize why we traded Richards for he and simmonds. Hopefully he proves me wrong because I've liked what I've seen when he's had his moments.
