Noted, but I haven't seen enough yet that makes me realize why we traded Richards for he and simmonds. Hopefully he proves me wrong because I've liked what I've seen when he's had his moments.

I don't think anyone is overwhelmed by his play to this point. But this could be the year he breaks out. We'll see.

I hope so. If it ends up being Richards swapped for Simmonds and a bust, I'll be disappointed. I like Simmer, but would rather have Richards if it was a one for one choice.

And I'm not unrealistic, I want to see Schenn another season or two before labeling him anything.

I think another thing to keep in mind is a lot of these young players on the team are coming into their own at the same time, which can lead to prolonged growing pains that are team wide.

I'm with you there. He's yet to play a single full Season. Hopefully he avoids any serious injury and get's his chance this Season.

I didn't tell you how to feel. I gave my opinion on that statement. You're entitled to feel however you want to. He still a young player, who is basically a 2nd year player. I think he deserves some time to develop.

You edited your original post.

The way it's now written couches your opinion better and is a fair assessment.

I agree, he needs some time to develop. My point is that to date, I'm not sure what type of player I see him developing into. I'd hate to see someone with so much promise end up as a checking center.

Idk if I'd rather have Richards. Simmonds outscores Richards, and out hits Richards, but Richards has the defense on his side.

I did edit it, because I realized how I worded that could be taken wrong. My intent was not to tell you how to feel. That's my bad.

As far as the latter, I don't think there's any chance that he'll be a checking Center. He's a player that is best suited to a North/South game of skating hard up and down the Wing and going hard to net. And becoming strong on the puck in the forecheck and cycle game. I don't know that he'll ever be a big point producer. Maybe being a 30/30 guy as his upside.

If it's between Richards and Simmonds, I'd take Richards hands down. That being said, I love Simmonds. He's very strong on the puck and along the wall. Tough as hell for a wiry kid. If he can improve his all around game, all the more better.

I think Richards is the all around better player and has shown he can win at every level. For me I wouldn't hesitate choosing him over Simmonds. I miss what he brought to the team on the ice.

Would have been nice to make the carter trade, keep Richards and acquire Simmonds and never sign Bryz.

I can actually agree with that. If only we could see into the future, it might've happened that way.

I agree. As much as like Carter, that trade was just too good to pass up. Hopefully Schenn develops and makes us forget about Richards.

Carter might be the most 1-dimensional player in the league.

I know. I guess we could do without the empty jack Daniels bottles strewn about the locker rooms and benches. How he ever managed to play like that is beyond me.

Thank you. If I misread your meaning, then I apologize.

I'd just hate to see the kid run himself into the ground. He seems to be a 'tweener, meaning he's too small to be a power forward yet hasn't exhibited the skills to be a pure scorer. If he eventually becomes a 30/30 player, I'd be quite happy. I'd like to see him become something more than a Talbot-like player.

Don't really want to get into a Carter debate, but how is he one dimensional?

I think you're right. I think he is a tweener so to speak. I think he's going to be just a good player. I don't see any extraordinary skills in terms of a lethal wrist shot, or in terms of passing ability as a playmaker. I think he's just going to be a hard nose player, who puts up solid point totals. He would make himself a far better player, if he improves his play away from the puck.

Just because he didn't put up good assist totals, doesn't mean he doesn't pass the puck. It's one Season. Carter is never going to be considered a playmaker, but he has put up decent assist totals over his career. When the guy has the shot that he has, you want him shooting it more then passing it. And point totals is just one part of the game. Carter is also a solid PKer, and solid defender at ES. You can play Carter in any situation, against any line. So he's hardly one dimensional. Carter has a very strong 2 way game.

I don't. Carter is no longer a Flyer. I like the trade. I gave my opinion, and that's it. I'd rather discuss the current Flyers team

didn't the Flyers also get a 2nd round pick in the Richards deal? What ever became of that pick?
