Well, I guess it's time to bring out: "fire Gillis". "More youth on this team." Uh-huh. So far I'm not too optimistic. I don't think they'll get past the third round! |

Pretty unexciting put that way.
Canucks are going to need some close to career years out of this bunch to go anywhere. - docmorgan
I would be happy with players just playing up to their potential. Edler, twins, Kesler, Luongo, Kassian, Booth, etc. must play better. |

I think most people would consider the third round a success at this point. Expectations are no longer cup or bust, at least so it seems. |

So Santorelli, Dalpe, and Richardson are the new forward additions for this season. Is this 'all in' or is this a 're-tool'?
To be honest I was hoping (and expecting) more. - bloatedmosquito
So you're assuming that Torts will have no effect on how this team will play. |

I have no worried about the Twins, they'll be fine IMO. Edler as well, I think being paired with Tanev will help him go back to his game, he wasn't even as bad as everyone was making him out to be last season. Kesler, as long as he's healthy will put up good numbers, him being injury-prone and missing games every year is being overblown. Luongo, will definitely be better this year with a bigger workload, I wonder if the Torts shot-blocking system will help r hurt him. It should help most goalies, but he's really a goalie who plays better with more shots against. Kassian definitely needs to take a step forward, no he doesn't need to be breakout, but it's fair to ask him to be more consistent and establish himself as a top 9 talent. Booth, again I see him scoring around or close to 20 if healthy, but lets say 60 games and around 15 goals. |

Good summary.
But I was speaking more about point totals at the end of the regular season. All those players had lows last season (except for Kassian).
Not too worried about defense. It's the offense that concerns me. If Kesler gets injured again we are hooped IMO. |

How much of it counts against the cap? That's all that matters. They got more money than god.
MLSE even have their own rapper on staff to entertain the old white men in the boardroom. |

That's a whole lot of third and fourth liners!! Not enough skill there to match the good teams in the Western Conference. |

Who wants to trade me a goalie. My #1 is Nueverth but I think I have the best team from the blue line out in the pool. And by far the youngest bluechippers |

That's a hard cap hit this season. Could get a pretty good player for that amount of money.
But when you think about it the leafs are paying Bozak close to that amount. I think Bozak gets $5mil in the 2014-15 season. Another bad contract by Nonis. |

Meh, I'm on the fence as to what contract of his and Clarksons is worse. I think 5.25 mill is a lot of money who's numbers best comparable are Chris Neil and Steve Ott. But doing it for 7 yrs is pathetic. Both are very good useful players who got far to much to money from a place that "everybody wants to go"
They are going to win the cup without question though. According to the leaf fans Hedman would be 6th best defenseman on their team |

It pi$ses me off to no end when you hear both Gillis and Tortorella state how the team needs a serious youth movement and the players who legitimately earn a spot get sent down. Pretty sad considering it doesn't look like they will get rid of Alberts or Weise. What they see in these guys who knows. Jensen better make the team. I like that they aren't rushing them but its still irritating. - thundachunk
Youth doesnt have to mean 18 year olds in their draft year. Schroeder, Corrado and Jensen will all get time on this roster I suspect. Jensen and Shroeder may need to freshen up down in the AHL first but I do expect to see them.

I think leaf fans are in for a huge shock. After last year's "success" expectations are even higher than normal. I'm not convinced the leafs make the playoffs.
I think Ottawa is the Canadian team to beat out east. Secretively, I hope Ottawa does well this year. Great roster. |

If Anderson stays healthy I think they will go far this year. He's been one of the best in recent years but has poopty luck.
