"In the event Stanton doesn't pan out, the team can waive him. If he goes unclaimed, they have another defenseman for the Chicago Wolves."
You mean Utica Comets??? |

Colby Robak would have been nice. I wanted them to draft him instead of Sauve. |

Corrected. My apologies. Not sure how I called them the Wolves after referencing them as Utica earlier in the post. |

Sounds like a physical, gritty depth d-man with limited offensive ability, although his numbers in lower level leagues(AHL and junior) are better than AHLberts so he can't be as bad as Alberts with the puck on his stick. He's played a big part in the AHL affiliate rivalry with the Canucks when we were associated with the Wolves so he's not afraid to drop the gloves and mix it up. Sounds like a good character guy(Don Cher...I mean Vantel will love that ).
24 years old too, so still young for a d-man. Someone has to go even if Shinkaruk is sent down, I believe. I'd waive Alberts or Sestito. |

If Tortarella is adamant that they will only carry 7 D, then it's got to be Alberts or Weber going down, probably Alberts as Stanton's game is more like Alberts than Webers. |

Yeah, I was looking at him as well. But for what it's worth, in his 16 games last year he didn't show much. Still young though and a better pedigree than Stanton. I'm guessing they wanted some toughness and a good team guy though, apparently Stanton is one of those guys that every teammate loves. I bet he Probably hated the Canucks. |

I haven't heard Torts comment about Alberts yet. He seemed pretty meh/okay about Weber. I really hope it's Alberts and not Weber that gets waived. It would say a lot about the type of d-man Torts likes if Weber gets waived instead. Alberts would really become the Canucks version of Stu Bickel then. |

Stanton is a good 6/7 defenseman in the NHL. I think that's his ceiling. He's a mobile defensive d-man who can bring a little bit of a physical element with his game. Also, he's a good leader, and wore an "A" on his sweater in Rockford last season.
BTW, is Eklund considering you as Esplen's replacement? I've enjoyed what you've posted over on the MyHockeyBuzz side of things... |

A lot of people on various sites seem to like him, I'm guessing it's the Detroit factor. But his possession numbers are awful, and the scary thing is that he was playing fairly easy minutes for Detroit too. |

Sounds good, I'm looking forward to see him play(in a limited role of course). Thanks, appreciate the comments. Haven't heard anything from him yet, but I'll keep at it until I do.
Will post another one today. |

He's a fringe player, but I still thought he might get claimed because his salary was so cheap |

Solid D-man, great as a depth player in case of some injuries. Hate to see him go. |
