In spite of him. I believe that without him they would have won. That group was playing great and was skilled on their prime. But he was a hindrance, throws his players under the bus, ruins their conference and will play favourites, even when his favourites played like crap. Sucks at making in the game adjustments and after big blowouts was letting the nucks "sort it put for themselves"

what were those numbers on the rick nash buyout again?
just kidding but seriously we need to get 2 out of kreider, hirvik, kristo, lindberg, or miller up here to help with the scoring and ulf samuelson...figure it out bud. |
|
|
|
I was actually gonna look that up.... Not only is it 20 goals against... The 6 they have (which is embarrassing)... 1 of them was a 5-3, one was a garbage time goal in San Jose, and one wasn't even a rangers goal...it was JQuick putting it in his own net...I know goals are goals...but the rangers literally have about 3 legitimate goals so far this season - Dedshark
No need, I am all over it. This team couldn't look any worse than they do. |

Succinct and to the point, spot on. This lineup needs a shakeup and the rest of these clowns need to pul their heads out of the anuses. |

crazy, two games in a row. Someone's got to get fired if they can't turn this around quickly. Sather would be my personal choice, but watching the defensive play (and the Rangers have some studs on defense) I get the feeling the whole team has no idea what system they're supposed to be playing. I kept seeing two rangers chasing one duck, or standing in the same space. The team has some talent but they look completely lost at the moment.
Normally I'd take a small poke at the Ranger fans but I've been an Isles fan for too long and I know what this sh!t feels like. Something's gotta give. The road trip can be an excuse if they look tired, but this just looks like a fire drill.

We should all just get along... I like JT & Grabner (which is funny because grabner looks like JT [Justin Timberlake] bringing sexy back to the NHL) |

if you're inferring that AV doesn't care about how the team performs then you're retarded.
any coach in the NHL obviously cares about the results, how their team is feeling, how they are performing, the small details, etc.
do you seriously think AV just went to his hotel room after this game and went to bed? torts will run out his welcome in vancouver far sooner than AV will in NY and i can guarantee that.... |

we need to realize that like 50% or more of this team has ONLY played in the NHL under tortorella and his defensive shot-blocking system he instilled. we're talking 4 years of being trained to shot block and collapse to the point that it's strictly instinctual for guys like mcdonagh, MDZ, stepan, etc. who have only played (or guys like girardi, callahan, boyle, stralman, etc. who have only truly succeeded and blossomed) under torts.
we're going from black to white in terms of defensive systems. it's going to take more than 4 games/1 month of being under AV to undo 4 years of playing under torts' system. the team is practically relearning the game.
with that aside, lundqvist has been absolutely mediocre at best. i'd be nervous if he didn't always start out like total ass every season but it's worse than normal to be honest.
again, get kreider and kristo up here to provide some speed, talent, and sniping to the wings and get pyatt/boyle/asham off the top 9 wings. yea pyatt might be a more reliable NHL forward in terms of playing defense and experience but the ceiling for a kid like kreider and kristo in terms of generating offense is exponentially higher. |

Lets be serious... I def agree moves have to be made... Normally defense is their strength, but they need help in all facets of the game... If they wanna get more scoring in, so be it...put in the kids...however, you're looking at some rough times defensively. The kids still need to mature in their two way game. So hopefully some firepower and goal scoring fires the team up. But they're already letting in too many goals...be prepared for some tough times

I do not think this is true for one minute.
Sather fired Bryan Trottier 52 games into a season 10 years ago. He said it "wasn't right fit"
Tottier had signed a 3 year contract.
Alain Vigneault signed a 5 year contract with the Rangers, but, I gotta be honest, I don't even remember back to back games during the dreaded 1998-2004 era where we looked as bad as we did these past two games.
And, St Louis is great.
This is bad.

The 2 games against Detroit in late 2000 that precipitated Neil Smith & Muckler's firing is the only ones that come to mind, back to back 6-0 losses or something like that. Agreed Jimmy, this is VERY bad.

Blow it up - B2B76
Sather should be fired today, without Gordie Clark and Jeff Gorton he'd have made a mockery of this team a lot earlier, guys like Boyle, Pyatt and Asham should have never made the roster, I've seen enough of Del Zotto, trade him relieve cap space at this point
We're entering another dark period and it shouldn't be |

I'm a half glass full guy normally but the Rangers can't be defended today. Before it gets worse something has to be done. |

i found myself feeling embarrassed to be a rangers fan lately. all I want is a distraction from life a few times a week, but instead i get a team that resembles exactly what life is. a confusing disjointed mess with no justice. i cant even turn to the giants for solace |

well listen, if you are reasonable you have to realize that Vigneault isn't going anywhere.
And, maybe the best thing to do is to make a trade or two that will bring in, and ship out, some pieces better utilized to play in this system.
I gotta tell ya, not too impressed with the system so far though.

Disagree with entering a dark period; this team is not without hope. There is a lot of deadweight on the roster but some bright spots on it too.
Let's call it for what it is: most of the players, we thought were reliable, are letting the team down in a big way.
Girardi and McDonagh have been disgraceful so far. Lundqvist is a shell of his usual self, Stepan--good decision on holding out--looks a step slow and his decision making is as bad as I have seen it. Callahan is still getting into game shape and it shows. Now Nash can't stay in the lineup due to injuries.
These are all proven top notch players and nobody is carrying their end of the bargain as of now.
Then you got the rest of this group with nobody stepping up. It's so easy to blame the coach but this looks like a group that is just not interested in playing hockey for the New York Rangers. The players need to be held more accountable than they are and maybe we should expect this continue if none of these players wake up and start to care. |
