Matt Henderson: Oilers Send Two Down, Oilers Fans Sent To Therapy Grebeshkov and Davidson go to OKC, Larsen is recalled. Is it time to panic yet? Not unless you left Kevin behind when the family went to France.

I'm probably going to end up dropping Yakupov real soon in one of my fantasy leagues. Tried to trade him...

So Schultz or Smid out? I have to think they probably keep Smid in against Toronto, but after that if he doesn't play well he could be sitting.

Watching the games, the Oilers could very easily be 3-1.

Contrast that with a Toronto who is 3-1 but could very easily be 1-3.

I think the Oil are getting better and Nuge coming back has been a huge help.

I think Hemsky is being showcased and that is hurting Yak. He will come around. Just a matter of time.

Dubey did ok last night, but sure looked like he was fighting the puck. I was still nervous when a shot came through to him in the third.

Ebs has been invisible. He and Hall bumped into eachother twice on the same shift, it's like they forgot how to play together (it'll come back i'm sure)

David Staples is right, Yak needs consistent linemates who have some offense in them to play with... does him no good to be at the enemy blue line with the puck and Smyth and Gordon just getting out of their own zone. I've never seen Yak look so out of place in his own zone though.

edit: oh yeah... and watching Smid rush the puck to the end line ...

edit2: Nuge looks great out there

I've held on to him this long, when his % owned plummeted, but he has to start producing.

I've got Hall and Eberle on that same team though.

ditto everything that Iggy said. Yak will figure it out and after being "schooled" by Eakins Yakupov will be a better player throughout his career. He's playing like a 15yr old idiot and doesn't deserve the ice time...but he'll get it. and IF Nail Yakupov ever "gets it"...he could win the Hart Trophy. He has all of the physical pieces, he just needs the head to go with it. It will come.

Hallelujah...Dubnyk was average!!! Let's throw a party.

I know I'm gonna get killed in here for this, but, the Oilers (as it stands) don't have enough depth to compete in the West. They're a tremendously skilled team, but their depth is what's gonna hurt them in the long run.

Too many one dimensional players (offensive) and not enough of a two-way game. But whuddo I know right.

You can go ahead and rip the Nucks all you want. This comment was about the Oilers. And yes I know the Canucks don't have enough talent (as it stands) for them to compete with the very good teams in the West either.

I don't see why the Canucks should not be able to compete with the deeper West teams. They've just been underachieving with their roster, like the Caps and Sharks.

They don't have enough top six talent IMO. Unless Kassian takes a HUGE step when he comes back.

I think our depth is better than its been in a long time actually. Our bottom 6 are not a liability at all. Last night we just couldn't buy one although there were plenty of chances.

Lets keep in mind our goal is simply to make the playoffs are a least be damn close. That and I do think the roster as it stands today is going to be the same at the end of the year. Talk about adding defensive help, if that doesn't include Hemsky then you might see another deal where Hemmer goes for a more two-way player.

Yakupov gets some pretty talented line mates on the power play and he still fails to capitalize. Remember against Vancouver when he had 3 decent opportunities and he sailed them all over the net?

You think the Oilers are in panic mode, try being a fan of the Rangers right now!!

I really do think the Oilers are better than the record shows right now, hope they can get a couple wins and some confidence! Just not starting with a win on Saturday.

For them to be successful they've got to have 100% buy-in from the guys on a two-way game that I'm guessing Eakins is preaching. Is that happening and are they capable of that?

San Jose is clearly better than the Canucks, the Canucks (IMO) are clearly better than the Oilers. That means they've (Oilers) got to take a big step to be able to compete with SJ, St Louis, Chicago & LA.

He's not a huge point producer, I'd drop him and get the best available on the free agency (other players) list in your pool. Most pools, you have 82 games per position on your team... the less days you waste on an under performing player, the better overall results you get from your pool, even if its a collection of many players who usually don't produce as much. There are a lot of other talented kids in the league, I'd swap the rookies and try to ride the streaks as much as possible.

That's a very good point. He just needs to get a goal to relax a bit.
