Flyers and Oilers trade talks continuing into the evening, source reporting the Flyers are reluctant to add Simmonds but talks continue

That was fun.
This guy must actually be a fly on the wall - mikel33
"Reluctant to add Simmonds?"
GOOD LORD, PAUL HOLMGREN!!!! You have traded Peter Forsberg, Simon Gagne, Joni Pitkanen, Joffrey Lupul and JVR! You traded Mike Richards and Jeff Carter WITHIN THE SAME HOUR!
Don't tell me you're scared NOW!!!!!!!

No, its that Simmonds is more valuable than Yakupov.. he fits more within the culture of the franchise. - mikel33

Lucky SOB hurt himself right at the perfect time... not that anybody would be interested in dealing for him anyway... |

i would do the trade, get a legit top 6 forward corps. It looks like a trade that really benefits both teams, they get some grit, some experience, a coots who still has a high ceiling, we get two young, skilled, speedy scorers. I'd be interested in Vanek too, provided buffalo eats some of his cap hit. a top line of giroux, Yakupov and Vanek, sign me up. |

I for one would be reluctant to trade Simmonds too.
I know he can't handle to puck and is really a very good 3rd liner and in the crease PP guy, with terrible Corsi etc. whatever.
The guy is tough as nails and scores goals with his face.
He is a great Flyer. I love Simmonds and want him to stay.
I'd keep him over Hartnell any day.

Again, I'd be happy to take a chance on him. I dont even care about Simmonds/Coburn. Those players are easily replacable through UFA. Couturier might make a nice #2 someday that's it. Yakupov's ceiling is floors higher. - Just5
They're not easily replaceable through free agency. And cap space also comes into play. And unless Yakupov becomes an equal to a player like Stamkos, I'll take the player that Couturier could possibly become over a goal scoring winger. |

Simmonds+ for Eberle makes sense for the Flyers. Trading for Yakupov doesn't. The guy is a flight risk no matter how much he claims otherwise. |

any word on these rumors?? maybe i'm leight been in boonies with no internet for Canadian T-giving...
Rich Smith @ALLsportsINTEL 2h BREAKING NHL UPDATE - Source - Flyers and Oilers discussing blockbuster deal that would send Nail Yakupov and Hemsky to Flyers.
Rich Smith @ALLsportsINTEL 2h Oilers reportedly would want Simmonds, Coburn and either Couturier or Laughton for Nail Yakupov and Hemsky.
Rich Smith @ALLsportsINTEL 4h Source - Flyers involved in trade talks with Sabres for Vanek, Flyers reportedly offering Couturier, Coburn and a 2nd rd pick. - Buzzo
Hemsky's contract is up after this season, so they would be trading Simmonds, Coburn, Couturier or Laughton for Yakupov. That's terrible for the Flyers.
Trading Couturier, Coburn and a pick for Vanek is even worse. His contract is also up after this season and he will want a new one for 8 years at $7.5 million. |

Doesn't Simmonds make almost as much as Hartsy in his new contract?
