Good blog. I don't hate Edmonton but I always wish the flyers could have won game 7. As was posted earlier, hextall finally got his name on the cup which makes me very happy.

I suspect that Hexy will get a chance to steer the flyers as gm very soon.

I was at game 1,2,5 and 7 of the finals in Edmonton in 1987...for me it was awesome...great series...that being said...I hate Carolina for 2006...so yeah...being so close sucks...

Maybe you should do a bit of research before spouting off about how the city of Edmonton's logo was based on their sports teams.. Here's a clue - it wasn't.

Why bother wasting the energy on hating the Oilers? They aren't even a fraction of the team they were in the 80's. Laughing stock of the NHL these days. Whats to hate? We're a bad joke.

I was a kid in the 80's living in Edmonton so I know all about the dynasty years. Imagine what it's like for those of us who lived through the glory years to sit here and watch this joke of a team today!

I feel bad for those who live at or below the poverty line. For those who are homeless, and can barely afford food have never won a Stanley (frank)ing Cup.

Totally understand and can appreciate your point of view despite being an Oilers fan. Just for the record though, the "City of Champions," was actually coined by Edmonton Mayor Laurence Decore after the Tornado of 1987. It was in response to the amazing display of how a city came together to support one another. This phrase is often confused with the success of athletics at the time (Oilers, Eskimos, Kevin Martin, Kurt Browning, etc).
On a different note ... I was at the game last night. No question who the better team was! It wasn't even close! Oilers have a long road ahead.

hey erik....i went to high school in london with your dad and his younger brother paul. i will always remember during a london knights game your dad lost a contact lense on the ice and they delayed the game for half an hour looking for it. as much as your dad hated the oilers and i can understand why. he was a great warrior and competitor. the oilers hated playing against him and much as he hated them. it was a classic battle every game.
