WTF are you talking about?
Simmer's a high-20's goal scorer... Schenn was a top-4 dman last season... and you want to dump them BOTH for a guy who hasn't broken 20-goals and 50-points since 2008 and a 2nd-round pick?
Common. - Tomahawk
Please man. How many goals does simmer have now? He cant skate the puck into the zone. He is horrible in his own end. He gets top PP time. 95% of top 9 forwards on his league would pot high 20's seeing that much PP time with those players.
Many NHL defenders have shown top 4 capability. He is not consistent and there is a 35 yoa UFA waiting to be signed every summer for 1-2 mil to bring his game |

another win for the Phantoms, 2-0 over Albany. Gotta really give Murray credit for having them play so well right now. - nastyflyergirl
Just took a peek at their stats. Heeter has a GAA below 2.00 and a save % above .940. Perhaps its time to start considering him a legit prospect? |

Simmer is a 3rd line winger who has a ton of grit and is damn good from the crease to 5-10 feet out. Do I want handling the puck in transition? Not really. But he has a role on the team for sure. Dumping him and fat Schenn for a UFA to be doesn't make sense in any world. |

I know you're all gassed up in Cali because The Cardinal knocked off O but Stanford wouldn't move the ball against Bama. Stanford's D isnt on the same level as The Irish's last year and Bama boatraced them. I say this knowing Bama lost 3 OL men to the NFL in the first round long with Eddy Lacy......It would be ugly. |

Coburn with another solid game today. - Yosimar89
Yes...it seems a fire was lit under his a$$ a few games ago...since then he's had more jump and determination...he's playing better and gaining confidence at both ends. It's really good to see from a guy who was incomprehensibly regressing. Keep it up!

Probably off topic, but whatever
to all the people saying we should trade Brayden Schenn because he's a bust and he sucks, no heart, etc etc etc
Guy was 2nd on the team in points for the month of October.
So maybe some of you need a reality check.
Vinny lead the team with 7P, missed 3 games
Giroux & Schenn 6P each
then like 5 skaters with 4P
so maybe some of you should realize that the entire team struggled in October.
Just some nice facts i'd like to point out
Hartnell had 0P and while there was some hate, not near the level of Schenn. Schenn was one of the only players to show some heart early on in the season. Not everyone will give their 100% every damn game.
I cant wait till Mason has a bad game and see all the fans jump on his ass. Ill just be sitting here laughing my ass off at all those idiots
enjoy your days - FLYERSROCK!

I don't understand the desire of so many to trade the one dman on the team with size and skating ability who chews up major mins. People wanted Carle gone and now female dog that they let him go. I know he makes some glaring blunders at times but I for one do not want to see him traded and if they do that they better be getting a young puck mover in return - nastyflyergirl
Put me in the group that recognizes Coburn has been our best defenseman game in, game out and to trade him - unless we're getting D back - hurts the Flyers for a few seasons beyond this one. |

coby can go if the deal is right. i'd be fine giving lauridsen, alt, manning, gus a chance this season since I don't think this team is going anywhere. |

It's not like Coburn is old to move him because the team most likely will need to make major changes . I'm not saying he is untouchable but if they move him it better be for a young puck mover. My main point was in response to the person who says he's not moveable. I beg to differ.

Yeah, 95%... right.
There are plenty of TOP-LINE guys who get more PP time than Simmer that don't even break 20-goals...
Compare Simmer to guys like Brouwer, Stafford, David Jones, Tuomo Ruuttu, Bertuzzi, Ryan Smyth, Kopecky, Stewart, Clowe, and Malone... who play similar net-front roles, and get similar PP time, but haven't come anywhere near Simmer's production over the past couple of seasons.
Simmer actually compares a lot more favorably to premier net-front guys like Ladd, Lucic, Dustin Brown, Franzen, Hornqvist, Doan, and Burrows than the guys above.
And he's definitely been more consistent than Hartsy.
So you're really just going to dump him b/c he's started a season badly? Sounds smart to me.

That may be true, but they gave up JvR for Schenn, so it behooves them to be patient with him, or at least not dump him for a 2nd-rounder and an impending UFA in deep decline. |

If they need to give up a defensive defenseman my #1 choice would be Grossman. Mainly because he's taken alot of abuse to his body and his play is just going to continue to deteriorate. Schenn will hopefully continue to improve but as a defensive defenseman, will never be worth a first round pick.
