Yeah, let's sell low on two solid young players for a guy EDM's been trying to give away for months (if not years), and a 2nd-rounder in a weak draft. Sounds like a plan. - Tomahawk

A position of strength would be to either wait until at least some of our current players begin to play their way out of slumps and increase their value somewhat. Or, if we continue to freefall, wait until the trade deadline when contenders are desperately looking to add a piece or 2 to make a cup run. - BiggE
This is the second consecutive year the Flyers have struggled coming out of the gate. This is not about players playing themselves out of a slump. This is about rebuild. So the priority is to move players to acquire picks and prospects. Also, you want to free cap space moving as many bad contracts as possible. You can do a crash and burn with a rebuild fairly quickly.
What is a killer is if you stay in denial (as the Leafs did for 10 years) pretending your only one good trade or UFA signing from being a contender. |

Just chiming in now.. Glad Bryz is back in the NHL.. It's so ironic that he used to beak off about how desolate Winnipeg is, now he's in an even more desolate spot in Edmonton... lol
As someone said, thank God he's not starting for the Oilers today, it would have been hilarious to see him shut us out... - Hextall271
they're getting a lot of mileage out of that footage on the nhl network that's for sure |

if scoop is correct that scouts all of a sudden aren't that impressed with our players that had to change because up until mid last season coots had selke potential, schenn bros were progressing, read was very underrated, etc... Now just because team isn't performing the scouts all of a sudden aren't "impressed" ? - SMS4016

06-07 may have been worse since it had been a while since we missed the playoffs. Now I'm getting used it - funmaster18
I don't think 06/07 was worse. We didn't have any talent on that team.. This team was good 2 years ago and now it's fallen off the map completely. It's very frustrating, because we are supposed to have a solid young core. I don't think that this season could be going any worse. |

Flyers captain Claude Giroux was in a minor car accident Friday night, but was not injured, according to a report on @CrossingBroad. I will talk to Giroux shortly at the Wells Fargo Center and get more details.
Reportedly, Jay Rosehill was also in the car and was not injured.
Giroux will try to snap a 21-game goal-less streak Saturday afternoon against Edmonton

I just think it's funny..I actually don't hate Bryz and hope he does well in Edmonton. He's a quirky guy, but not a bad tender. I am happy having Mason as our guy going forward and think he's a better fit but I am glad Bryz is getting another shot. |

Nothing to see here. Someone backed into Giroux's car, and he wasn't in car at the time. Total non-story.

The scouts and GM's really know their stuff and are very strong in evaluating talent. It makes no sense to me that the Flyers would trade some of the young, strong players. Why would you trade Couturier, Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn and others?

Not a huge fan of the listed lines today, but hell, what do I know?
Nothing else has worked, so maybe they'll get something going with lines that appear to be a little off. |

06-07 wasn't as hard for me because we were hit hard with injuries and lacked talent, depth and goaltending. This team has more talent than that squad and much better goaltending. They just don't work hard enough, nor play intelligently and that is harder to take. |

well a few scouts told me they're not impressed at all with those young players so we should just trade em for some picks. |

For Kyle Scott's next trick, he's going to put his keen journalistic sensibilities to work to query the server at the bar that Giroux and Rosehill went to to see if they tipped him/her properly. |
