I don't think 06/07 was worse. We didn't have any talent on that team.. This team was good 2 years ago and now it's fallen off the map completely. It's very frustrating, because we are supposed to have a solid young core. I don't think that this season could be going any worse. - Hextall271
I don't know that they have fallen off the map. I think there was a steady decline over the last two years. I'm surprised they are doing this badly, but I was expecting some growing pains this year. |

Those aren't the players being scouted neccesarily. - bmeltzer

Don't worry...they'll be changed by about the 4th shift or so - TheGreat28
Ha! Yeah. This team has about numbed me to much of the pain they've been consistently delivering. I'm approaching today's game like I do when I know I'm driving toward a bad shift at work.

Nothing to see here. Someone backed into Giroux's car, and he wasn't in car at the time. Total non-story. - bmeltzer

Put yourself in the position of another G.M.
Would you give up ANYTHING (picks or prospects or Matt Walkers) for:
Scott Hartnell? - Nope.
Braydon Coburn? - Not much
Andrej Meszaros? - Free agent next year
Matt Read? - Lot to like with his versatility, but the Flyers probably overvalue.
Everyone other forward (besides 40) is in that twilight "young veteran" age. They need those players to step-up.
Stand pat. See how Downie fits in. God, I can't believe 1 game in he gets a franking concussion. |

Hartnell-Would consider a 4th round pick, if, and only if, the Flyers eat 25% of the contract and cap hit.
Coburn- You are underselling Coburn. He is a solid 6'5 dman with decent wheels and good durability, plus he is under 30. A contender would most likely offer a late 1st and most other teams at least a 2nd and a 3rd if not more.
Mezaros-nada, good luck with that!
Read-a 27 year old forward with good speed, decent skills, can play all 3 forward positions and contribute on the pp and pk, also signed for a relatively reasonable cap hit for the next 4 seasons. Gotta think Read could land them a 2nd plus a good prospect or be part of a deal to bring back a top 4 puck moving dman. |

Money Bill. I agree with everything said, and I have been saying the same things since the season started.
Any word on G, and if he will be traded Bill? He is usually pretty good about talking to the media, and when he walked away unhappy like he did the other day, something must have seriously upset him. I bet he was told to either produce, or he will be traded. I think that the Flyers rushed him, and gave him the "C" too quickly; a typical Flyers development route. In addition, his off ice business may have had a part in it; see Richie, and Jeff. Finally, I think that his long term contract has effected his playing. The Flyers, of late, have been quick to sign a player if he has a good season. One good season, doesn't mean that he needs to be a team player for life. We may have another Bryz problem on our hands. If G needs Jagr that much, then we may have to sign Jagr to a long term contract; into his 60's? Sorry, I couldn't resist that last remark.
Anyway, I can see the bottom line when the season ends. Hexy is GM, another coach is brought in, and the team is blown up.
Who are the only players that have been playing well up to this point Bill? In my opinion, both Goalies (short term deals), Hal Gill (I was surprised at how well he has been playing), and Vinny. Other than that, the team has been worthless.
Thanks for listening to me vent. As with the 2006 season, I find this one very painful to watch. |

If homer trades Coots in a package deal for Hemsky or even Yak I quit following this team. I am sick of the young guys getting traded. I can deal with a bad team if there is a plan. Trading young guys for a unproven young guy or older guy is dealing from a point of weakness IMO. - bird_dog
What exactly has Datsyuk V2 proven that you wouldn't move him for Yakupov for? |

Yakupov will be a star one day. 17 goals in 48 games last year.... That's as many as couts has in 138 career games. |

Speaking of players who aren't impressing, 3 points for Yak so far this year.
He apparently has the raw talent, but I wouldn't give up a lot for him at this point in his career because what you're pursuing is his potential, and we're already loaded with guys who are trying to live up to their perceived potential.
Still, it'll be interesting to see what happens with Yak. |

Different types of players tho. Yakupov's upside is a high scoring winger obviously and Couturier's upside is a well rounded two way center. |

I like Couturier, don't get me wrong, he just isn't an untouchable for me.
I would be ok moving Couturier in a package for Yakupov because they are both 20.
I would not be ok in moving Couturier in a package for 30 year old Hemsky. |

I don't think I am underselling Coburn at all.
He is a 6'5" dman who plays like he is a 5'6" dman.

This is why I hate the Philadelphia media.
no, Claude Giroux is not getting traded. No, Ed Snider probably didn't tell Giroux start producing or your traded. No, Giroux is not getting stripped of his captaincy. No, Giroux was a PPG player last season so the weight of the C is not getting to him. No, Giroux doesn't need Jagr so he can start producing, he needs Scott Hartnell.
I thought we were going to get a breath of fresh air with Randy Miller getting canned, but boy, this Mike Sielski guy makes me miss good ole Randy.
