True. Not a bad deal - that's a tough trade, but worth it for both sides.

A word overused by desperate fans trying to defend a player.

File it in the same category as "classy"

"ooooh, such a classy player"
"such a classy organization"
"such classy fans!"

Not really an answer at all.

Intangibles are things like leading, sacrificing your body to every shift, blocking shots, going into the corners or front of the net, sticking up for your teammates against a much larger opponent. Among many other things. That on top of the aspects of the game that you are known for, whether it be a sniper, a set up man, a shut down role player, a great 2 way player.

Gardiner for Gudbranson, even if we have to sweeten the deal a bit.

Is it possible to crash the net and hit in the corner without 'working his ass off every shift'?

Face it, the term "he works his ass off every shift" and "he has intangibles" is the same thing. You just beat yourself if your own argument, congratulations.

You need to look at the definition of intangible.

Blocking a (frank)ing shot is VERY tangible.

Phaneuf probably, I think the Leafs have high hopes that one of Granberg or MacWilliams (not lately) will take that 5th or 6th spot next year. Nillson could sneak in there, I have a feeling that this player will surprise.

Is Finn still in the Leafs system? That would be great if he could pair up with Gardiner.

That would be a steal for Toronto. No way Florida accepts that trade. It would have to be Gardiner +

You know for the first time I can't remember if he is signed or not, if not Brown and Finn have to be signed this year or they lose them.

I have been wrong, I thought for sure Blacker would be up by now, Eakins screwed him around by playing vets ahead of him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was traded as part of a package.
- LeafMan

Very disappointed with him, and everyone has been wrong with projections, its normal. I'm excited about Percy, think he can make the team next year. Seems like a perfect future partner for Phaneuf.

Intangibles can be seen. They just can't be recorded in a boxscore or stats sheet.

I kept saying give him twenty games and if he is not improving then we have a problem, apparently the coaches trust him on the ice, they must see something others are missing or fail to see.

His 5 on 5 play is one of the best for D-men on the Leafs.

- LeafMan

i think he looks more than fine.

also.. rielly sitting pisses me off.. but only gardiner is the one who he replaces.

and i think gardiner is being shopped.

this scenario.. right now.. is why i was against rielly playing in the NHL this year. he has played well.. for a rookie.. and with things tightening up.. the leafs simply cannot afford rookie gaffs. as the vets get their legs back a guy like rielly starts to look more and more exposed.

there must be something in the works trade wise. or gunnar has a time table to get his game back before they shelve him and make him get surgery.

He is, just got OHL defensemen of the month getting 18 pts in 18 games and playing in all positions for Guelph, also got called for the Canada - Russia subway series.

The frustrating part is we all know Gardiner has the talent and the tools to be very good, he shows flashes of brilliance, but the one word that holds him back is, consistency.

exactly.. and at his age the doubt starts to creep in (for me anyways)

thats why i wonder.. he is RFA at seasons end and due for a raise.. maybe trade him now while his value is high or keep him and risk overpaying and not having him pan out?

thats a tough call.

Does Jonathon Toews help his team win by doing that things that don't show up on the scoreboard, or patrice Bergeron, or any number of players. Those are intangibles, whatever the definition of the word is, it is applied differently when talking about what a sports player brings to his team. Much of what Toews does can not be described, he brings more than other players, whether it be physically or mentally. Those are intangibles. Tell yourself whatever you want but you are flat out wrong

I think what's really holding him back this year is trying hard to learn the physical and defensive aspect of his game this year, he seems a little hesitant on some rushes going forward where before he'd fly forward (minus the time he went up and got robbed by Rask)

Ah, I see... so the definition of a word chances wether it suits your stupid argument or not.

Well I'll be damned! I'm gonna use that tactic more often.

Or trade him and watch him thrive somewhere else, oh well, we're used to that...
