Honestly I think a big part of how this game will go depends on which Pavalec shows up tonight. I don't think there is a more inconsistent starting goalie in the NHL right now. Spectacular some nights and just horrid on other nights. - mcefalu
Winnipeg is tough at home. Won't be an easy game at all. Then again, there aren't very many easy games. |

Indeed, so it would be in Flyers best interest to score early to try and take the crowd out of the game sooner rather than later |

What about Gaborik? I wouldn't mind trading for him. He is struggling a bit right now, but he also doesnt have Giroux feeding him the puck. |

Meanwhile, Evander Kane has gone pointless in four of the last six games and has not scored a goal in that span. Nevertheless, the power forward remains a dangerous presence on the ice.
- bmeltzer
That ends tonight. Like the Detroit power play earlier this year and too many instances of "____ (player) hasn't scored in ___ games," the Flyers' tonic will be just what Kane needs to get back on track. It's as predictable as the tides.
That said, I think the Flyers keep the pedal to the metal and scratch out a 4-2 win. |

Winnipeg at home is usually a tough nut to crack...and the Jets & Flyers have had some strange get togethers over the years. Always seems like something strange happens. - Jsaquella
I don't think we'll see a 9-8 sort of game tonight, but it wouldn't surprise me. 'Peggers could go home with cold ears after a hat trick. |

Sometimes you wanna let the home team get a 2 or 3-goal lead so that you can come storming back and smash all of their hopes and dreams and wave your dongs in their face as you laugh while they wail in pain and dismay.
Or, yeah, get the first goal. Either way. |

Interesting conversation on hockey central at noon on sportsnet. Discussing the Oilers, and Doug Maclean is speaking about the rumoured deal between philly and Edm regarding Eberle. They don't believe there was much to that rumour as Eberle for Simmonds or Schenn is a low return for Eberle. He said he's a big fan of Simmonds but speculates that if the Flyers got Eberle and put him with Giroux they would be lights out. That would be interesting to me.. I wonder if Simmonds plus a pick would get it done as Edm is desperate.
Talking that Philly's confidence is back and it is due to the strength from goal out.
Talking about how he thought Mason would need a strong veteran backup and that even then, it would take a year plus before he found his game in Philly.. but he has been proven wrong and said he's been lights out so far and the backbone of the team. (go figure, maybe the Canadian media is finally getting that tending is a strength for us now). |

If Simmonds and Schenn (Braydon, I'm assuming) is too low, I doubt Simmonds and a pick gets it done.
Edmonton does like 1-dimensional forwards, though. They may like Jason "Hart" Akeson. |

Could you imagine if Edmonton traded Eberle for Simmonds or Schenn? The edmonton fans would go into cardiac arrest. |

Yeah. I meant that they were talking Simmonds or B Schenn for Eberle. The return is low as you say. I don't think I would do Simmonds and Schenn for Eberle. |

Not for what the flyers would likely be willing to part with for him. Seems like the wrong time to go after him as we are both young teams trying to build. If the flyers had better defensmen and more depth there then I could see a deal. Not sure why trading eberle for other young forwards gets you unless they have another deal in place for defensemen. They have a lot of young talented forwards already. I guess they could use more grit but I don't honk you trade eberle for a gritty forward like Simmonds plus a pick. |

If you watched Mac T's presser, he is beyond frustrated and was very frank in saying that he'd be willing to trade the #1 pick. That being said, he is desperate for a #1 stud dman, just like we are and will trade picks. My view is that sometimes, Gms as desperate as he seems sometimes make dumb trades, and I would love to see it benefit us.
I think Edmonton's fans would go bonkers if that went down, but man would Giroux and Eberle be a deadly combo. |

And other times you want to sabotage the opposing team's sticks and replace them with sticks made entirely of chocolate so that they can't shoot to score with them but how can they be mad with such a tasty treat? |

They're in a difficult spot to trade. It's almost like they have several Seguins. Boston knew Seguin might develop into an all star center, but he needed a change of scenery to do it.
If the Oilers sell on some of their players, they will be selling low and the guys they trade may break out and have great careers.
On the other hand, if they keep everyone, those same guys may not develop. |
