According to TSN, Couts and Read each had just under 23 mins of ice time, they must have had a heck of a game. Couts has sure embraced Berube's thinking of each player having a role and being within it. |

solid win ... though it got a bit hairy at the end there. Mase was terrific once again.
Cooter was tremendous. The kid has taken a big step forward in his offensive game. I find myself paying special attention to him when he has the puck. lol
Downie is killing me. I like the guy, but some of these needless penalties he's taking are ridiculous. - FlyerGuy
I also really liked Cooter's game.. I know it's beginning to sound like a broken but Mason's goaltending is the backbone of the team.. I shudder to think where we'd be without him.. |

Conversely, Berube has sure embraced using Couturier properly and with linemates that can help his offensive skills shine. Lavi rarely gave Couts talented wingers -- and never consistently. |

My 3 stars of today's game
1. Couturier: Kid was an absolute beast today, imagine what he'll be in a couple years when he fills out!
2. Mason: The Flyers hands down MVP so far this season was brilliant yet again.
3. Tie between Read and Coburn: Read seemed to be 100%, he was flying out there and was huge on the PK and Coburn had just another really good game, the poor guy gets no respect, but night in and night out he is the Flyers best dman. |

Glad to see Couts keeping his stud pace up, as well as seeing mason continuing his stud effort.
Also, as of now we are two points out of second with a game in hand on the Rangers. And our last ten reads 7-2-1. Still not certain we have turned the ship around though. Good to see our division sucking. |

I agree 100% about Coburn. the fans may not appreciate him but based on his ice time, the coaching staff does and that is what matters |

In your opinion, are Subban and Karlsson #1 dmen then? How about Paul Coffee? - Tomahawk
I think all of those guys are considerably better at D than Buff. I'd love to have him, and he'd be our best Dman, but I just think we could get better with Coots, Voracek, and Coburn. |

Giving Coots and Read those hard minutes opens up the game offensively for G. I love it |

This isn't even a question. He didn't have a great year last year, but really Coburn's been no worse than the Flyers' third defenseman for the vast majority of his time in a Flyers uniform. He can be frustrating at times, but really, there's no question that he's by far the best defenseman we have and has been playing like it for the vast majority of this season.

The Sharks are curb-stomping the Blues right now; Ken Hitchcock's face can't get any redder.
For my money, San Jose's the best team I've watched this year, for teams I've seen multiple times. Blues are second, Blackhawks third.
To me, there's a pretty sizable gap between those three and everybody else. |

I think his wrist injury golfing really hampered him from the get go. I don't think he's 100% yet, although a wrist injury shouldn't be affecting his skating so its not all the injury. - Flyersgod
It was a finger injury. |

Read is a very important player for this team right now.
With Couts getting tons of ice time matching up against other teams big line, Read is the guy with goal scoring ability on that line.
They missed him badly in Tampa. |

Truthfully, we'd need at least two more defensemen, maybe three, and at least three more forwards, including a Top 6 LW, to beat San Jose when they're playing like they are today.
They're not just good. Those boys are big, too. |

Man I am excited.
You can see Coturiers offensive game coming along.
We know he has the defensive side down and now you can see the rest.
It's exciting to see..I hope he keeps growing. |

His skating looks so much better! He actually seemed to be quite fast. That must be the key to his offense! |
