Mason has been nothing short of a godsend, I'm not sure we'd have any wins without him. Lots of dumb tonight, but they worked hard to get back in it.

And that stands in stark contrast to earlier in the year when the third period was less than kind to the Flyers. Instead of acting dumb and doing they're here we go again when thing go bad they are fighting to win as opposed to trying not to f*ck it up. Big difference. Coaching? Who Knows?

Hey Gunnar, please break down Subbans eff up that should have cost Montreal the game. All he's done is win the Norris trophy and screwed up 10X's worse than Letang did. Tell me why he is garbage the way you rail on Letang.

I get that Letang isn't on top of his game. But the witch hunt continues. OFFENSIVE defenseman make mistakes. Always have always will. Support the whole team.

Anywhoo, going to be a good one against San Jose.

BTW I totally agree with your assessment of Sid, every game he makes my jaw drop. Amazing OT goal. See we get along a little bit.

How about that Malkin kid?

Maybe a piece on how Duncan Keith disappeared for 2 years and all of a sudden is amazing again. He's an offensive defenseman....I'm sure you hate him as well.

Even better, do a piece on why Paul Coffey was a horrible defenseman. All he did was play with Gretzky and Lemieux. I'm sure he messed up a little bit as well.

I was a huge critic of Niskanen over the last two years. I was often annoyed by his play throughout games. This year I haven't found myself swearing at the TV due to mistakes caused by him. I looked at the stats and his plus minus rating is the best on the team. This is a contract year for him so I'm sure that has a lot to do with his play. The last two years I've wanted Shero to get rid of this guy but as more games have been played this year I've come to like his game. On the other hand I've been aggravated by Letang's and Opik's games. I has thrilled when we resigned Letang but his play has not justified that signing at all. I do hope he can start playing a smarter game. I've always wanted Orpik to stay in Pittsburgh until he retires but I have a hard time believing Shero will sign him unless he takes a nice pay cut.

Kris Letang couldn't hope to hold Paul Coffey's jock. Coffey had his own defensive issues, but he was by and large fantastic with the puck on his stick. Ryan is hard on Letang and it is well deserved. He is slateed to become by far the highest paid defenseman on the team, yet he continues to make terrible decisions with the puck that are hurting the team and will be deadly if they continue into April.

Like you say, Paul Coffey wasn't a defensive genius either when he played for the Pens. I know it's not the perfect stat, but he had some miserable +/- numbers here. However, it was a pleasure to watch him play. Such a naturally gifted skater.

Letang has certainly been horrible. I'm still holding out hope that the guy from the last couple of years (not last years playoffs) returns. He used to be such an instrumental part of the team. It's confounding how bad he's become defensively.

If a player you're counting on to play really well is just making terrible decisions why would you ignore that. Also an occasional mistake is ok but letang is making them at a pretty consistent basis. If you want a breakdown on subban go to the Montreal blog

Emperro, dbell, madmike, it's just SellMyMonkey's opinion. I can see why he gets mad at all the bashing on Letang. I'm a Big fan of him as well and hope for the best every game. I won't say he sucks and trade him. All good defensemen have some flaws. Karlsson has it. Subban too.
