Letang just needs to simplify. Hes trying to assist and score on every opportunity. Force everything. Patience would help him out. I think he will figure it out. Unfortunately it may get worse before it gets better.

Nice write up, dude. I lost count of how many times i said, " That should've been a penalty..." last night, on both sides of the coin. The hold on Orpik while trying to clear the o-zone was the most glaringly obvious infraction but Letang most definitely deserved 1, if not 2, calls in the final minute.

It would be interesting to see how many turnovers per game the Penguins averaged while Letang was hurt vs when he's been playing. He's always made suspect decisions with the puck, but lately its been worse than I can remember. He also misses the net way too much when they set him up for one timers.

Agreed on the refs last night, but Vanek has been in the league long enough to know the refs are going to be looking for *ANY* excuse to call a back-side PP in that situation.

Agreed. A lot is forced from him right now. I'd just like to see a simple approach from him.

As far as Vanek is concerned, he got caught for "retaliating" as he should have. Same with Malkin. Seemed even to me there. There was plenty of junk from the officials. They let a lot go they could've called. Vanek going down wasn't part of that though. Looked more like a dive to me.

Congrats on finding the first missed call in the NHL, ever.

Maybe post a video of the reaction from Vanek and how he cost your team the game. You could also then post stats about how your team was 10 for 28 on the power play with Matt Moulson and are 1 for 35 with Vanek in the lineup. Good thing you included a first and second round pick in that trade. I can definitely see why Islander fans are so angry lately.

Gold medal effort by Vanek for making like he got shot after barely being tapped by Letang's stick.

Scores just in on the Vanek dives:
--------GER---UK---USA---RUS---SWE---AUS---CAN
Dive 1: 9.1---9.0---9.3----9.0----9.2----9.5----9.1
Dive 2: 9.5---9.5---9.6----9.4----9.7----9.9----9.6

Clearly a little favoritism from the Austrian judge, but that is to be expected with their hometown boy.

Not as good as his effort when Crosby picked his pocket and went through that defense (term used lightly) like a hot knife through butter to win the game.

The old you take him, I got him executed to perfection.

8-20 and back in the basement after such high hopes this year. What a kick in the nards.

Nice to see you talk about Crosby for once. I agree it's deserved every night and would probably be boring for us to read how terrific he is every game. I'm excited about San Jose. I consider them the best team in the NHL at this current time so I want to see what the Pens can do against a team I feel has a legit chance to win it all.

Incredibly weak defensive effort on that sequence! Why didn't one of the two defenseman give him a little bump?!

I missed the game. They were that bad?

Edit: they did however give him a suckerpunch after the puck was in the net. With that kind of decision making they deserve this result.

I even thought they had turned the corner but it doesn't appear that way. It is however quite apparent that they need to go get a solid defensemen or 2...or 3.

That GW goal aside I liked DeHaan, thought he played well. Ness needs to learn how to play hockey with his stick below his shoulders. He took 2 undisputable careless high sticking penalties.

Yea they lost control of the game pretty early, lots of uncalled poop on both teams. Weak call on the Isles in the 1st, 2 well earned high sticking penalties on Ness, but everything else was pretty much retalitory garbage beacuase they weren't calling the initial infractions.

But at the end of the day the Isles were up 2-0 and were given a PP with 2 minutes left in a tie game on a play Tavares initiated and didn't get penalized for so i don't know why they all have their panties in a bunch.

I guess it's easier to blame officiating than it is their teams effort. Vanek should be ashamed of his effort on the winning goal.

Calling the game poorly officiated would be an understatement. The officials let a ton of stick fouls and interference/holding go. Prior to Malkin losing his mind and cross checking Tavares he was blatantly interfered with and held behind the net. He was also slashed by the Isles goalie. The Isles fans are whining about the Letang non call, and I can understand why. The reality of it is both teams were the victims of poor officiating.

I guess when your teams sucks, you have to blame somebody. The officials are the easy out.

The Islanders are starting to remind me of Philly. Tons of talented forwards (Giroux, Voracek, Lecavlier for Philly; Vanek, Tavares, Grabner for Isles), but total liabilities in net & on D.

Also, I can't really blame the players or coaches in either case; Its the fault of a short-sighted GM and poor team building.
