Jesus H Christ. Can't they pick somebody else besides Philly? Why do the Flyers invite this kind of distraction and BS upon themselves? - Jsaquella
Philly is owned by the tv network that hosts it.
I think it wreaks of desperation that NBC and the NHL have to keep going back to the same wells in the northeast to guarantee tv ratings. NY Rangers, Penguins, Flyers, Capitals with single appearances by Buffalo and Boston and Detroit being a semi northeast market. |

I'm with you, but I doubt it's got that much to do with the Flyers being owned by NBC's parent company.
If they didn't pull good ratings, they wouldn't be involved. I'm just happy theyre not in one of the outdoor games this year. I'd rather see something like St Louis-Colorado myself |

Was more amazed that Florida gets an outdoor game . Did Bettman make a deal with Jack Frost and the Heat Mizer ? |

Lame....let's get to know some new teams. How about Colorado and St-Louis? I'd love to see Patty Roy in the locker room. |

NY rangers have been in 1 WC. The Stadium series is something completely different. |

One concern with having so many outdoor games was that it would get stagnant. How about putting the same damn teams in year after year?
Ithink I will voice my opinion by watching college football instead even though I could really care less about those games either. |

Ok so the winter classic will have been held 6 times with 8 participants. The just screams parity. |

They've both already been in it.. wtf?
Why not an Avs/Wild game in either St.Paul or Denver?
What a joke. |

West teams will never get the actually winter classic besides Chicago bc of Ratings and Time Difference, no one on the East Coast is going to watch a new years day Avs Wild game, which would have to start somewhere around 9:00 local time to make up the time difference.
Avs best chances of being an in outdoor game are the visiting team in either St. Louis or Montreal in 2015, or Winnipeg in 2016 |

They should have one on a real pond, somewhere in northern Ontario.
No live crowd.
No TV.
No gentlemen in vertical stripes.
Maybe a couple of reporters so we can find out who won.
Back to basics. |
