Dude, did he? I'm so sorry I said it, what I Richard I am - GioRock
I think so. Burke had 2 sons and a daughter. I think the kid who was homosexual(not slurring the kid, just don't want to use the wrong word) passed away. |

Idk Why Burke dogged him. He obviously knows Ryan better than us. But my eyes don't fool me. Ryan is better player than Pacs - tomburton99
If you read that insider account that was posted yesterday, the selection of team USA was very a democratic process. Obviously, Poile had the final call, but there were considerable debates where GMs would step up for certain players, and votes would be taken. Yes, Burke killed Ryan, but why didn't he have any big defenders either? To the contrary, when the question was posed "how many people have concerns about Bobby Ryan", a flurry of hands went up.
Ryan is a good player, in that he scores a ton of goals and can break open games with his offensive ability. But, he's one dimensional, and apparently, has the repuation for having a questionable ticker. I just think you can take alot from the fact that noone really stood up and made the case for him. |

We will see, my mind is still spinning over the overwhelming number of GMs that would pick Okposososo over Callahan. - GioRock
You should probably dip your head in a bucket of ice if you're having a hard time with that one. |

Team USA was essentially picked by a conglomerate of US born GMs. It was never even a question whether Callahan would make the team. He was a virtual lock. Okposo, on the otherhand, wasn't even seriously considered. While not perfect evidence, because they are building a club for a tournament, that probably provides the best indication of who GMs would rather have.
I respect your opinion, but I think you are wearing blinders with this one. I don't even think it is even close between Okposo and Callahan, because Okposo is supposed to be the offensive player, and really doesn't have that much better of a PPG average in his career than Callahan, who also does everything else well.
It just not even close, IMO, but it is probably an improveable point either way. |

You isles fans don't understand the importance of intangibles, leadership, and experience. Theres a reason you guys suck with all the "offensive talent". You dont have any players to teach your young guys, raise morale after crushing goals or tough losses, to block shots or shutdown guys like.crosby or malkin. It's all offense and points with you guys and you don't realize that there is so much more to hockey. |

the Islanders haven't won a playoff series in 20 years.
It seems like they could use a player who does the little things to help a team win in big spots |

As Poille said, "we didn't pick the best players we picked the players that would win us gold". Think that says it all? I don't believe most GM's would chose Callahan over Okposo for multiple reasons and I'm not sayin ALL would but there would be some. OK, done with this debate. Think I've lost some brain cells in the last half hour or so? |

I thought it was funny a few weeks back when an Isles fan here said he was too young to remember the Rangers winning the Cup in 94, so i said I guess you've never seen an Islander playoff series victory either? |

Which is clearly evidenced by the fact that you would pick Okposo over Callahan.

I think you may be underestimating my knowledge of the game because I'm an Islander fan which is pretty ridiculous. I was laughing at the way the message was conveyed not the message itself. I'm aware of a players value even if they aren't scorers. It's pretty funny that Rangerdanger who spends more time on our thread than here isn't aware of this? |

there isn't anyone affiliated with the NHL who would have chosen Okposo over Callahan coming into this season.
Right now, because Okposo has been hot and Callahan has been hurt you are allowed to throw around the brain cells comment and not look so foolish

actually when you said Callahan takes stupid penalties it made me look at your knowledge less than I was giving you credit for

Laugh all you want but its true. Every time players get compared to isles players your go to argument is directly about points. Nothing else matters except points.
There is no excuse ever in the nhl to lose 10 straight games with a proper leadership group and veteran presence. I know you think im trolling when I say this but maybe jt isn't the best captain for a young team. |

I've read that on here numerous times from your fans. It's not my imagination. Taking stupid penalties at the worst times is verbatum what I've seen posted on here numerous times. I also do watch a decent amount of Ranger games. |

the Islanders have the worst penalty killing in the NHL, but, Ryan Callahan is considered overrated to their fans

the last 69 games Ryan Callahan has played, he has taken 11 minor penalties. And thrown 224 hits.

I was laughing at how you said it which is funny because you're on our thread constantly and see us b!tching about this same exact thing when referring to our own team yet "islander fans" are too stupid and lack knowledge AND only care about points to see this? Give your head a shake. You're debating with yourself. As far as the point debate you do it daily on our thread |
