As per about a dozen diffent sites the canucks have had discussions with the wings about Edler within the last 2 weeks. Canucks asking for Tatar, Nyquist, Smith and 1st. Detroit is apparently hesitant about the pick - Bieksa#3
Canucks could flip Tatar or Nyquist for say Ladd or Kane or B. Schenn? They have more grit to their game, which we need! |

Ill play your game and move over to here.
Thats crazy to me. If that is going to happen kudos to the Nucks Management. Edlers good. But thats alot. I feel Detroit cant afford to lose either of those forwards as they are going to be key guys I feel.

You think maybe the go all in while z and days are still there?
- Bieksa#3
I guess it still leaves them Frk, Jurco and Mantha. But the other two are NHL ready right now. Detroit could really use that youth in theyre line up. Like I said. If theyre only hesitant on the pick. I think its going to be a steal for the Nucks. |

We're just commenting on the said rumours, not making them up. Detroit management has always been interested in Edler, they wanted to draft him, but we swooped in |

What about Paul Stastny? - LeftCoaster
All the flack he gets is because of his contract. Hes a stud. He got paid a grip when the Av's werent that good and had to reach cap floor. Him with Kesler on his RW would be dangerous. Stastny is a good two way guy. They would be a good duo. |

I agree but I'm not sure he'd stay here longish term?

Cap hit for Stastny would be difficult to fit in this year, but that's the kind of centre Kesler needs to score 30 on a consistent basis. |

Well consider you still have to move something to get him. And have Hansen and Edler to move. Among other things. |

You think it will take $6.6+ to sign him next season?
And, if you are bringing in a guy like Stastny, maybe Kesler becomes your 1st line RW? |

Dont think the Av's are going to let him walk. If he isnt resigned then he is traded.
But no I dont think he will be 6.6. I think he'll get something in the 5 to 5.5 range. |

Id rather have two sets of Duo's and then find the guys to fit with them. |

Yeah, but if he is set on FA then it won't matter if he's traded or not, he's still an UFA at season's end.
I just wonder what the market will be like for him. Been a while since he was ppg. |

I say 5 to 5.5. Unless some desperate team throws a ton of money at him. |

Yeah, nice to have young guys step up and earn top minutes on ELC's or low $ contracts. |

From the Colorado blog
"According to the Ottawa Sun, if the Avalanche can acquire a first-round draft pick and a player in exchange for Stastny by the March 5 trade deadline, they'll likely move him.
Hmm interesting" |

So, Booth out ($4.25), that's only $1.75 increase, with the cap going up it seems doable. |
