Vancouver has the worst fans in Canada. Up 4-2 with 2mins left and half the lower bowl empties. What a disgrace. Down 5-1 late I can see leaving, but stick around and enjoy the win...err.. shootout loss.

Baseball Hall of fame is a joke. How do players get better after retiring? There numbers are the same, someone shouldn't get in 10 years later. - Scooby_Doo
I saw some tweets about it, so weird how it works. Apparently some of the voters haven't even cover baseball professionally for years now, but once you guy a vote you apparently don't lose it until you die. And some ESPN douche sold his vote to a website called Deadspin. Baseball! |

Hockeys is a joke as well. If you are on the list with a bunch of decent players but not amazing guys you have a better chance. Same amount of guys get in no matter what.
My point was Maddux is one of the all time greats. Dude took pitching to a née standard. |

Yup. Randy Johnson was pretty good too. But that Glavine, Maddox, Smoltz era was unreal to watch... even if they only won 1 championship.

You know its funny. Smoltz was great, same as Johnson.
But Maadux was on a different level. He didnt have a 100mph fast ball or nasty slider. He knew how to set up a hitter. How to expanded the plate. Even when he had an off night he dominated because he outsmarted hitters rather then try to throw the ball past them.
Glavine was of the same ilk but a step behind maddux. Glavine was amazing but Maddux is amung if not the greatest of the past 40 yrs |

Halladay was the best for 10 years, if on a better team, likely would have been considered one of the best ever. |

Halladay was great. I hate the Jays and he is by far my favorite jay of all time. He wasnt good long enough though. Those other guys were dominating for so much longer then Halladay.
However I do remember Halladay saying he never became dominating till a conversation with Maddux. Urging him to pitch to contact
Even so he was never in Madduxs league. Somewhere in Smoltz or Glavines though for sure |

All this talk about Kane being a problem child reminds me of when people said the same thing about Seguin. Sometimes 22 yr old guys do dumb things. As an organization you have to take a chance on a young potential superstar. If it doesn't pan out so be it. Dallas with Benn and Seguin have 2 young studs. It would have never happened if they didnt take that chance. |

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Another Collapse, More Olympic Thoughts
The Vancouver Canucks stretched their winless streak to five games after surrendering two late goals, then falling in the shootout to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Also, more thoughts on the Canucks' seven Olympians and Tortorella on the outside looking in. - Carol Schram
Other than a couple of weak "Go Canucks Go" chants during gameplay, the crowd was virtually silent all night. No goalie-chirping; nothing. I'm not even sure if Fin was in the house?
I know the issue is complex. With more tickets than ever owned by corporate entities, lots of casual fans attend games and might not be as committed to making noise and hanging on every play.
The entire (frank)ing franchise needs a makeover. I've been going to games for the last 10 years and the in-game presentation hasn't changed much. Don't blame the fans. We are putting our money down. We've done our job. Now it's time for these mental midgets to step up. 40 years of mediocrity is too long. |

Funny thing, most of the fans that left were Pittsburgh fans. Tons of them in the building last night. |

Steroids or not, Rocket Roger is in any conversation regarding the best pitchers of his era. |

For Seguin the Stars traded away a 1st round pick (morrow), Erickson who has 70 pts 3 times in his career who if he played for us we would be calling a superstar. Smith - who was a very young prospect with great potential and is on pace for 60 pts this year.
That is a very big price for Seguin. I would easily trade an unproven Horvat and more for Kane. |

Probably 75% of the in game production is the same as it was back in the 80s at the Pacific Coliseum. Those stupid clapping hands they show on the jumbotron? Are you kidding?!? |

Part of the problem is that many of them really aren't. It just happens to be the biggest thing happening in Vancouver on most nights. |

I'm ok with keeping both those dirty cheaters out though!
But Biggio??? 1st guy with 3,000 hits to not get in on his 1st 2 ballots in 62 years. |

Steroid suspicion. (frank) it, most of the league did it. The big reason that Clemens and Bonds take so much heat is because they were bumholes well before this was revealed. I'm pretty sure a bunch of guys in the hall have done them. |

Agreed. And I don't mind that. As a pro sports player who is paid because of the fans, there is no reason why they can't be respectful.
Clemens is a great strikeout pitcher. But again Maddux changed the pitching world. Clemens is of the Randy Johnson mold, dominating pitcher who was the typical flamethrower.
I think you'd be hard Presser to find many baseball guys take Clemens over Maddux even before the steroid boil over. Maddux reveloutionized the position.
As a side note Maddux is probably the greatest defender at the position as well |

Bonds was a 40/40 guy when he looked like RNH.
Easily the best plate coverage and quickest bat through the strike zone of all time. A unreal batters eye and clutch as they come. And the 2 best hitters he ever played with were Kent and Bonilla. Dude never had protection in the line up.
That being said he's a (frank)ing Dink and a black mark against the sport. Same as Clemens. Glad to see they both got what was coming to them |
