Why do you think Giroux was so disappointed? - PhillySportsGuy
I don't doubt at all that's a big part of the appeal of the Olympics. |

Except it was the Brits who called us Yanks, and I think we kinda fought a war with them or something. Still, good try. - wolfhounds
The Brits started using the phrase, but I'm not offended by them and their use of it. I AM offended by the South's use of it as an insult during the Civil War. |

If you take that away from Southerners, all they'll have left is SEC football. |

After the game, this was Therrien's explanation for his refusal to pull his goaltender in the final 90 seconds and simply conceding the win to Philadelphia: "You know what? In the third period we got four shots on net. When you have momentum and you’re creating a lot of chances, there is a reason why you can take a goalie out, especially when you’re down by two goals. But when you have four shots on net and you’re down by two goals, there is no reason."
This makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.
What's the difference losing 4-1 rather than 3-1 if your team has no momentum? All it takes for a team to suddenly find it's legs and find the confidence that didn't exist before is to turn out one decent shift and pot a goal. How many times has a team seemingly dead in the water suddenly come back to life after one positive shift?
Would Therrien have refused a power play in the last two minutes of the game because the team was flat?
If my team had zero shots on goal but had a chance to crawl within one goal late in the game, I'd still be willing to take the risk and pull my goaltender. And if I was the GM, I would've demanded it from my coach.
After the game, Terrien could've make some adjustments - benching players the next game, line demotions, a bag skate, whatever - but should have never conceeded at that point just to make a point.
If I were Bergevin, Terrien would be reading the classifides for new employment today. - 77rams
I personally love it. He took a big shot at his team in public. He is right. Why pull the goalie in that game if you can only muster 4 shots in 20 minutes... even with a few man up situations to help you out. He was pissed by the way they played.. and he did what he needed to do to get the message out. I wonder how they look next game in the 3rd period. |

Therrien's decision to deprive the team of Subban's services for the 10 minutes or so that followed was even more selfish than Subban's penalty. He can talk about the team concept prevailing all he wants, but his need to assert his power in this struggle between him and the team's best player took precedent over his number one responsibility: To help the team win.

I don't get it either, but I do appreciate it. What kind of chocolates do you think Therrien likes, bitter? |

Therrien didn't help himself by benching his team's points leader for 10 minutes or so in the 3rd. It seems to me one or the other, Therrien or Subban, isn't going to be part of the Canadiens organization if the two keep butting heads, and I seriously doubt Subban is going anywhere. |

The Flames' offensive struggles continued on Tuesday with a 6-0 road setback to the Phoenix Coyotes. Thomas Greiss stopped all 27 Calgary shots fired his way.
It marked the fourth time in six games and fifth in the past 10 that the Flames have been shut out. |

There is no way Cammelleri doesn't get dealt, right?
What do the Flames have to gain by hanging onto him at this point? |
