After the game, this was Therrien's explanation for his refusal to pull his goaltender in the final 90 seconds and simply conceding the win to Philadelphia: "You know what? In the third period we got four shots on net. When you have momentum and you’re creating a lot of chances, there is a reason why you can take a goalie out, especially when you’re down by two goals. But when you have four shots on net and you’re down by two goals, there is no reason." - bmeltzer
this is absolute insanity to me.

Yup - sounds like a lost group to me. That sounds like a white towel on more than just the one game.
Hey, what's Gagne doing these days? Is he playing anywhere or just training somewhere waiting for the phone to ring? |

He's just setting the table for the next coach. Better late than never.

I took Mezzy, Rinaldo, and Mason last night in my fantasy league. Rinaldo was the cheapest player you could get salary wise. What a payoff from him!

The 2nd of a back to back game, first game at home in a long time.....I would suggest that they would have probably not had the wherewithal to win this game earlier in the season.
Whatever it is they are doing now that they weren't doing earlier, it's enabling them to get through games, collect points, and fly under the radar. I like it.
Also - can we please stop booing PK Subban? Are we still mad at something he did to Mike Richards or something? Geez, let it go. Richards doesn't even play here anymore. |

That was the reason he got booed originally. Now he's just a cocky cheapshot artist who wont ever back it up. I have no problem booing him. |

I could get that, but I'm guessing 75% of the people boo him because "WAHHH HE TRIED TO HURT MIKE RICHARDS ONCE!".

the selections for the Olympic teams are all about personal preference, nothing else.
Seriously, Kunitz??
does Kunitz make it if he's not playing with Crosby?
what has Callahan done to go this year (for USA), over Okposo?
It is what it is, personal preference only
I hope the media just leaves it alone from here on, he's better off with the rest anyway. |

But he does play with Crosby, and puts up big numbers doing so. Everyone obviously remembers the "golden goal" last Olympics, but outside of that, Crosby wasn't terribly special for Canada most of the tournament. If there's any slim chance bringing one of his guys along gets the most out of Crosby, I personally think it would be dumb not to. Just my opinion of course |

So it bothers you that flyer fans boo an opposing team? Even if that is the reason, who cares?
We boo our own players. I couldn't care less if we boo the living crap out of P.(un)K. Subban. |

I'm saying he should earn it.
When we used to whistle at Jagr, he earned it.
When we yell "Crosby sucks", he earned it.
How much has PK Subban really hurt the Flyers over the years? It seems he hurts his own team with his bullpoop more than he hurts the Flyers. |

As a flyer fan im glad giroux didnt get picked. Frankly i hate putting pros in the olympics to begin with. But it gives him an advantage in staying healthy and coming out when the season resumes with a chip on his shoulder. He wasnt himself earlier in the season and imo he hasnt been this guy we're seeing for sometime before this season. Hopefully now this is where he takes a big step forward. |

At the time of the team selection, Giroux was the leading Canadian born scorer in the NHL over the past three years. He's been passed since by John Tavares, who has a 1 point edge.
Giroux is also third in PPG among Canadian born players over that time span, behind Crosby and Stamkos.
Finally, since the 2010 Olympics, Giroux is third in scoring among Canadian forwards, behind only Stamkos & Marty St Louis.
Taking him should have been a no brainer.
I don't care, especially, because I don't really care about the Olympics. However, it's obvious Giroux wanted to go pretty badly, so I'm disappointed for him. |

Unfortunate about Read. Hard to pin blame on anyone though. Sometimes concussion symptoms don't start for a few days. |
