How about Joe takes Edler from you guys for future considerations, then he takes Mike Gillis to the back of an alley, kicks Gillis in the balls and then we call it a day?

Avs are gonna let Stastny walk and Qualify O'Reilly.

Not a bad idea.

Duchene - MacK - ROR is going to create a ridiculous top 9 soon, Stast doesn't fit IMO. ROR is more valuable to a team at 3C than a 1st line winger

Can't pay a 3rd line center 7 million per. Plus where will Talbot and Mitchell(if re-signed) play?

Speaking of... How is this guy looking? Was always curious about how he would do anywhere but this sh!thole.

Good role player, Avs have had him in just about every position and all different lines. Still haven't decided if he is a keeper or a guy we ship out via trade. He likes to hold on to the puck too much but he has some great stick handling ability.

Not a chance in hell Stastny is walking and yes O' Reilly will get a qualifying offer and he will stay far away from 3rd line center responsibilities. For his first season as a winger he has looked pretty solid on both ends of the ice.

His cap hit is only 5 million and he is getting paid 6.5 million this year. Definitely not a third liner regardless.

You can pay a 3rd line center whatever you want, especially when your franchise player makes 6.

Talbot and Mitchell are easily replaceable, ROR is not

ROR being able to play the Wing makes his salary way more palletable. 6m for a guy who can move up and down your Top 6 as a winger or center is pretty valuable.

I honestly think his days of a every day center are over as long as he is on the Avs.
Plus isnt it nice to have a guy like that take draws if one of Mack or Duchene are done with an injury/suspension etc

Some papers are saying we are shopping him bc he seems to be set on testing the open market and the Avs would move him now if they got a 1st and a roster player for him.

He has his up and downs, mostly a very realible sound bottom 6 guy. Only time his game is in an issue when he tries to hard to be creative with the puck when he is playing with more skilled guys, usually coughs it up or doesnt get a shot on net when he tries to Mitchell Dangle.

I think he stays, Roy seems to like the flexibility in his forwards to play the wing or center, especially if they are PKers

I think the Avs will get both Stastny and ROR back on board. They have a couple of other key resigning's as well, including Varlimov ($4.5-ish), Mitchell ($2M-ish). Even if you sign Stastny at $6M and ROR at $5M per, they are still ~$15M under the cap for 2014-15.

It seems to make more sense to trade PAP or Tanguay or both (if healthy) and keep that core 6 together.

Who says no to a PAP (+ retain 10%) + Barrie for Niskanen + Glass trade?

way way too much for that, Pitts fan would do that trade for McGinn straight up, no need for Glass or loose PAP and Barrie

If the Rumors that max pacioretty is available are true, then I would love to see if the avs could make a deal around RoR.

already asked Hab fans if they would do that, they threw a hissy fit. They only want to give up scraps like Pleks, Diaz, and DD

Who cares what the fans say? They aren't the GM. I am just saying that if I was Roy I would call about it. While rumors are always just rumors, they can be telling sometimes.

The majority of trades we rarely see coming. Its very rare that a JVR for Scheen deal happens where we have heard about it for years.

There are cap issues on the Pit end to deal with and I worry about having to over-pay to get a Niskanin (Hence PAP over McGinn and having to add Glass for salary).

The long and short is that Niskanin will be the 2nd best D man to hit FA next year (behind Girardi), and the Avs could be left with a ton of money and no one to give it too. PAP/Tanguay are luxury items. Stastny, as much as people would like to think, is not.

You know how you over pay to get Niskanin? You wait till FA and say here is a poop ton of money lmao.

Really though, there is more than just 1 dman in the NHL for the avs to get, its all about being flexible.

Pens have no cap issues with Dupuis on LTIR for this season and the cap going up, they are fine

Niskanen is a UFA with a decent cap hit already at 2m plus already, you dont need to complicate moving a UFA for a RFA with a lesser cap hit

Meh, I doubt they would riot. Price, maybe, gals, maybe but I dont think Max would be riot worthy. Now the deal would get criticized to hell, but so will everything else in MTL.
