For me the movable young guys are Laughton and Morin. You have Coots as it is and while I'd rather move LSchenn over Morin you cant really afford to move him right now. To get a big deal done those are my two big trading chips. Just dont trade for a guy on the wrong side of 30. - hereticpride
Neither of those players are established at all, some teams probably would accept that return others will not. |

how would a #1 dman help us right now? not much because you have to rebuild the whole blue line most of our dmen have the iq of a rock - 2Real
Yeah, a guy who can play 25 minutes a night at a high level...that wouldn't help right now at all. |

I agree with all of this but I just feel the D is in such a bad way I dont think they can afford to wait that amount of time to develop a 1st round pick. Obviously they disagree, otherwise they would have taken Ristolienen or a guy much closer to the NHL. - hereticpride
I wanted Ryan Pullock with that pick, but if they're going to bring this kid along the right way and with Pronger mentoring him, I'm a fan of the Flyers project. We all have to accept the fact that we won't be seeing him for another 2-3 years most likely. But when the Flyers bring him up, he'll be ready and have had all the teaching and mentoring a young player needs and will be put in the right spot to succeed. So he'll be here and he'll be good when gets here...eventually. |

It slides everyone down one spot on the depth chart. Coburn doesn't have to try and carry a pair. Streit can cut down on 5 on 5 play and be used more on the PP and o-zone face offs, etc. |

I would be willing to move B. Schenn if it's in the right deal. I've never said you don't explore to land a top pair D but if the cost is to the point it leaves me with more spots to fill then before the move I don't make it.
You and others will differ, that's fine. - ob18
I differ because I think that Schenn will be a better NHLer than Laughton. I'm willing to move young players and prospects, in the right deal, because if I can get a 24 year old who has a good shot at being a top pair defenseman, it trumps a couple of 19 year olds who might be decent second liners/second pair guys |

I don't want to move Schenn, just in the right deal but I think keeping him is well worth it. |

Personally I think odds are you see the kid next season.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit, and they seemed to have a bit of a hard time sending him down this year. With the lack of quality D out there, and Guss not really taking the next step Morin may be up with the big club sooner than most think. |

I'm also against wasting another year of Giroux's prime(as well as those of Voracek, Simmonds & Read) pretending that a 40 year old Timonen is a top pair defenseman, still |

Had a hard time sending him down? He was among the first cuts. |
