I'm just saying I was shouting Maata! at Homer during the draft.... - youarewrong
Ahhh. Silly Homer not listening to you.
But do you think, even had we picked Maata, he'd be up on the Flyers right now? |

they interviewed him on their "nhl arena cam" after the game, which i wish would just go away. it's the same (frank)ing questions/answers for every player and every game. canned. cliché. waste. of. time.
during the recap it was comments like "a rare penguins mistake!" and "crosby has beaten the caps in their last five straight meetings" that make me crazy. um, no, the penguins beat the capitals, not crosby. even the broadcast crew is so pro penguin it's just brutal. - hammarby31
The league pushes so hard to draw fringe fans. Crosby is a recognizable name so they talk about him a lot. It's the same reason we have shootouts. No real fan of hockeys like seeing a legitimate game end on a skills competition. |

I was just glad it wasn't a 3 point night. I found myself rooting for the Pens because it helps the Flyers more. I felt ashamed. - PhillySportsGuy
ditto. i knew the pens would win in the end. and the winning goal shouldn't have counted, imo. penguin had half his body firmly planted in the crease obstructing neuvirth well before the puck from maata's point shot arrived, although i just don't think they enforce that rule to any degree at all anymore. what is the point of the crease then? |

Kadri is a joke.
Still stand by the idea that he was a politically correct choice. Hockey Night in Canada has broadcasts in Punjabi, and he is the perfect pick to attract a more diverse crowd.
Kid is a punk who cant play D. - flyer_nutter
What does Kadri have to do with HNIC broadcasts being in Punjabi? He's of lebanese descent.

Yes. If he's good enough to crack the Penguins top 6, he should easily have been able to earn a spot of ours. |

I think he would be. He's in a good position where he has several good defenseman in front of him. They don't need to put I'm in difficult situations. That being said, he did step up when they had injuries.
Knowing the Flyers, he'd be moving around the lineup constantly with different players. |

I don't like Washington either, but it was more about the Flyers positioning. They are battling with the Caps.
I hate Boston too. Such a spoiled fan base. They have more championships in 15 years than Philadelphia has ever! Most of them don't even appreciate any of them except for the Red Sox. - PhillySportsGuy

It seems like a reputation call. Guys like Hartnell do get called for it.
I did like the rule they put in where a goal can be disallowed for goalie interference, but the offensive player doesn't receive a penalty. It makes it easier for the ref to make the call. |

Handzus got called for it recently I believe, goal was waived.
But its unlikely to see that call I agree |

Have you heard of this Lebron James thing in the basketball games? - jmatchett383
The NBA's philosophy has always been to push singular players. The entire league is based on finding a top 10 player. Even the rules are geared towards individuality. (Defensive 3 seconds).
The NHL is much more of a team game. Singular players can make a huge difference, but in the NBA, Lebron James could make the worst team in the NBA a title contender. I don't think Crosby could do the same for Buffalo. |

Yup, it makes sense, but you'd never know a player is good enough unless you give him a shot...and don't yank on the chain when he inevitably has a bad game or 2. I just wonder if the Flyers are too gun shy with their young kids and that's why none have been called up from the Phantoms to see if they can fill some of the holes on D. |

it's like it wasn't even a question the goal would count. the ref is standing right there and ignores it. imo, his position is what allowed for the goal to happen. if he's another 2 feet out, maybe neuvirth is able to track the puck, or maybe it hits the player and gets blocked. who knows. as a goalie, it drives me crazy. |
