So the rest of New England can't claim the New England Patriots, only Boston can? That's a bit misleading.
Not as misleading as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.... - jmatchett383
That's like saying you can't be a Flyers fan unless you live in or immediately around Philadelphia. So technically, there should be no such thing as a NJ Flyers fan, you should all be fans of the Devils, right?

Yet they are the Boston Red Sox, and they play in Boston. So yes, they are a Boston team. - jmatchett383
They play their home games in Boston proper, but they are New England's team.
The Pats play their games in Foxborough.. Why aren't they the Foxborough Patriots? |

PhillySportGuy said Boston has more championships in the last 15 years than Philly does all-time. I said he shouldn't include the Patriots since they belong to the entire NE region and don't play in Boston. |

That's 100% not what I'm saying. I'm arguing the fact that, apparently the New England Patriots are the sole property of Boston. I'm arguing that they belong to the entire New England region. Must like the Flyers belong to the entire Philadelphia region. However,s since they are 1) called the Philalphia Flyers and 2) play in Philadelphia, they are a Philadelphia team. The Patriots are not the Boston Patriots and don't play in Boston, and therefore are not a Boston-only team. |

It wasn't intended to spark an argument.
The point I wanted to make is their happiness bothers me. And the people of Boston have been happy a lot more than us! |

Fair enough. So glad that Maryland and Delaware won those 2 Stanley Cups in the 70s. |

You might be getting just a little too hung up on the 'New England' part of the name. Do you lose your poop every time someone says Tampa Bay Buccaneers? And seriously, are there really any Buccaneers left down in Florida? |

I'm not familiar with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers stadium location and, despite winning a Super Bowl, I consider them irrelevant.
However, even if they're not in TB, at least they have it in their name, as opposed to "The Greater Florida Eastern Seaboard Bucaneers." |
