I feel for Vinny, I really do. As we know, he isn't the player he once was. Fine. However, I cannot help but think he is maybe a bit frustrated this season with the injuries he's suffered, as well as the continuous shifting from center to wing, and on various lines. To get the best from Vinny, he needs to play at center, plain and simple. |

The problem is Berube's love affair for Downie. Even a 45 year old Vinnie is better than Downie on his best day. Downie belongs on the bench and left there. But not only does Berube play him but he gives him powerplay time....WHY?????? Also he doesn't play Mez because his defense has fallen? THIS WHOLE TEAMS DEFENSE HAS FALLEN AND MEZ IS THE FALL GUY? Sorry but Berube is way over his head as a head coach. This team needs alot of pieces next year and head coach is one of them. |

I hear ya. I don't think Downie is that bad, but I do not want him in the top 9 or on the power-play AT ALL. Downie is not a PP guy on 80% of the teams in this league. |

He is "not allowed" to scratch Schenn? Seriously?
Not allowed by who? Holmgren and Snider?
If that is the case this team, this whole franchise, really IS in trouble. |

It starts with the Flyers lack of play makers... No one on Defense can pick a man up or make an outlet pass and we have one Sniper (Giroux) and one set up man (Voracek) on O. Homer has done nothin but over paid for players with upsight that never perform at their highest level. Im a huge Flyers fan but we are no where close to being a contender. The constant line shuffling is because there is no answer for what Homer has done to this team. |

If it came down to it, I obviously think no player is un-benchable. But, I do think from strictly PR perspective, it looks ATROCIOUS if Luke Schenn is going to be consistently benched. It's almost an embarrassment. |

Mez's "poor" defense of late is offset by his crazy offense no?
Where as the rest of the D... have played poop defense of late... and aren't doing poop offensively...
I'm confused...
I'm starting to believe that the coach of the Flyers really doesn't get to pick his lineup.

Tim Panaccio: Downie In, Vinny Moves Again - tpanaccio
Lecavalier's WOWY (with you/without you stats) are eye opening. This season and last, guys who played with Vinny were better possession players when playing without him vs when playing with him.
It's alarming to say the least.
And I'd rather see Grossmann or Schenn sit over Meszaros. All three are questionable in their own end, and at least Meszaros provides some offense |
