I'm pretty sure midget boys teams have beaten the women's olympic team. A .956 in women's college hockey is impressive in women's hockey. Nothing else

I played against Szabados.....

She's as good if not better than a lot of male goalies I played with/against. But even she wouldn't even come close to the NHL.

I also was a shooter for Team Canada at their 2006 Olympic goalie evaluations. We were lighting them up.....

No, because it'll expand to the women forwards being able to play and that becomes an issue with the body contact.

However, a women's hockey league (CWHL) has started to grow and they should continue to grow and expand and become the female version of the NHL. Will it ever be able to compete with the NHL? unlikely. But that game between Canada/Finland yesterday was as exciting as it gets. I still think women's hockey is in its infancy and will only become more prevalent from here on out.

Considering how poorly Danica Patrick drives a racecar I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. That is as level as the playing field gets.

My guess is that either some team will want another publicity stunt or the 'gubnet' will pass laws making equal opportunity apply to pro sports rosters.

On the off chance that Ronda Rousey is reading: "We all adore women and believe that they are equal or superior to men in all things but should still be treated with the utmost respect." Gotcha covered boys...Just because she couldn't beat Velasquez doesn't mean she couldn't kill most of us...and by most of us I mean me.

She'll need to be 6'2, 190lbs and be about 10 times as good as any one of them currently, and she might find her way onto Edmonton or Calgary.

The starter for Canada right now plays tier 3 Canadian college in the ACAC against guys who weren't good enough for the NCAA or ECHL coming out of the WHL. Now, her team won last year, but she was pulled in one of the finals games.

You're not pretty sure. You're right.

Didn't they play some Bantam AAA guys teams to close games this year or last too? Yikes.

No they never will, but they wont need too either. If women's hockey grows like you assume it will, inevitably they will form there own NHL, WNHL perhaps?

What a time waster this thread was. At least give us something worthwhile to talk about while the NHL is on hiatus.

Honestly not trying to be sexist, but the best women hockey players in the world are nothing compared to the men.

Have you guys been watching the women's games? Most of their shots are comparable to a Colton Orr shot (That he whiffed on).

Mats Zuccarello of the Rangers is only 5'7 179 lbs and he seems to be doing just fine.

....and the Japan's womens team finally scored a goal in olympic play after a 16 year drought.

As i am not a fan of seeing women play with men in hockey, it would be interesting to put this notion to a "test". Take the best player in woman's hockey and put them in a scenario to test their abilities with elite nhl players

The only way i see this happening if 1) The Female Player is elite amongst other female players 2) She bulks up and works out like Chyna from WWF 3) Thus she would arguably be stronger than kessel

If that was ever to happen, it would have with Manon Rheaume but that was a combination of her talent, which was almost comparable to a back up NHL goalie and on a good day, a back-up.... but she was used as part of a circus in the Tampa Bay experiment. She was reduced to a side-show.

Good for her and I would have backed her 110% but without the need for Tampa to gain market share and team awareness, it would not have happened.

if females are coming into leagues that have been basically male only leagues, then can a male play in leagues like WNBA, LPG, NWHL ect ect. players who cant crack the nhl or even the ahl, could they go and play for female teams? i think it should go both ways. i think ladies will want it how it is in a few short years.
