The concept wasn't applied to skaters until mid 2000's, and only entered mainstream consciousness in the past 2-3 years. - Tomahawk
That makes sense then. Thanks! |

Jim Corsi, who was a goaltending Coach for the Sabres, came up with a system that was originally designed to quantify the work load his goaltenders were under in a game. |

Timonen paired with Maata? Should be fun to watch what could have been
Also, didn't know Raffl had an older brother on the Austrian team as well. |

So, does Carter explode playing with Crosby? - funmaster18
Not sure about Carter, but Pierre is likely to have an 'event'.

He could lead the tournament in goals. |

Sweden is so good that even their goaltender gets in on the scoring on the PP.
And former Flyer prospect Jakub Kovar is in from the Czechs. That's a far cry from the days of Hasek and Cechmanek. |

Looks like Quick is getting game one for team USA.

I don't think it's really that suprising that Quick get's the nod. Who is everyone picking to win Gold? I'm going with Canada. Although I hope USA wins it. |

Sweden are looking quite strong, Voracek hasn't stood out, and Jagr still does his tricks. Good game. |

Karlsson and OEL look great together. I didn't realize how good OEL is on defense now. He's the real deal. |

He'd be the first D I'd pick if I could start a team from scratch today. |

Oh indeed. He is looking like a stud in this game so far at least. Me and some buddies were just talking about how we underrated the swedish roster. Lots of star players there.
Back to OEL - what do you think it would take to pry him away? |

Taking into consideration age and all, he's a great pick. Pietrangelo would be right up there also. |

It would take Giroux in my opinion. And even then it might not happen. Flyers don't have the players to convince Phoenix to trade OEL in my opinion. |

If not Giroux, then Couturier. And it wouldn't be a one for one trade, not even close. |

Not many teams do. It would have to be a gross overpayment for them to even consider moving him. |

Right, but if I'm looking at it from Phoenix's perspective. Even if Couturier is included, I don't think I would do it. It would have to be a ridiculous package to trade OEL. |

It would honestly take Couturier, Simmonds, Laughton, Morin, 1st round pick.
When you take into consideration age, skill, affordability, he may the most sought after defenseman in hockey. |
