Thank you for the breakdown of the (sparse) D availability.
And for the Olympics schedule. NBC's site is awful for just finding simple scheduling without scrolling. |

I hope they keep our prospects and don't trade anyone away for a rental. When this team is running on all cylinders they are very capable. I'd like to just see how far we can go for a few years until our young players develop into nhl stars. Hopefully sooner than later. |

I can't see Homer making a deal just for a rental. Most of his TDL guys either have another year on their contract or are resigned. There isn't anyone that I would want to trade any of our young talent for that wouldn't be a ridiculous overpayment. I like our young team. I think with a strong(smart) free agency and a solid draft, we could be contenders next year and a few years after. |

Austria is now officially renamed Raffland.
Better get back to Texas, Bill, cause it ooks like more snow for us in the next few days. As if I'm not completely sick of it by now.
I guess it could be worse, like the ice that is apparently going to hit down south.
Still, good hockey and Winter Olympics weather.
Please, no older acquisitions before the TDL. What's the point? |

From Tim's blog:
And coming out of the break, when the stretch run begins, there are 23 games in 46 days with 14 at home where the Flyers are playing better this season than on the road.
That is an intense schedule to run up to the playoffs. Gonna be fun. |

I know! You'd think a simple schedule showing an event would be easy to find. Who designed that awful website? |

Thankfully, they have a lot at home. Only 1 game outside the eastern time zone (April 1st against the Blues). |

Unless the games are going to be rebroadcast in prime time, it doesn't look like I'm going to get to see some of the games. |

Same boat as the Oilers...only real chance at adding D is through free agency, or going after a crappy teams D with term left for draft picks. Who are they though? Buffalo has Erhoff, The Oilers have Ferrence, Calgary has Giordano and Wideman...if those teams move those guys they might have a hard time replacing them themselves. |

I heard Mason wasn't in consideration for team Canada because there was a concern that Patrick Thoresen would have a big game against him like all ex-Flyers do aginst Flyers goaltending. |

Just remember to appeal to your boss's McCarthyistic sensibilities. He'll understand, it's for the good of are nation. |

In all seriousness, though, Thoresen has been a very good offensive player everywhere -- junior hockey, AHL, Europe, major international hockey -- but the NHL. For whatever reason, when he was playing in the NHL, he couldn't shot the puck into the ocean when he had scoring chances. But he's always had speed and hands.

I already tried. I e mailed him the schedule and told him I'd need that time off with pay. He didn't go for it! |

But he was instrumental in checking a Caps' defenseman into Huet in Game 7 in 2008, leading to Kapanen's goal. And he may have done that with just one fully-functional testicle. |

Have said it often draft and develop. By making the trade for what they need is to me more likely going to create more holes than it would fill. - ob18
I would try to move Mezsaros for anything. I would also move Timmonen if we got a deal that could not be passed up. I want Gustafsson to play the rest of the way. That way they can make a decision on him based from him playing with guys that will probably be here next year.
I do not see the Flyers doing a whole lot. Hold onto the young talent and trade away players that wont be here next year if you can. Continue to build with the young forwards and hope that one or two of the D prospects is top pairing. |
