Is this a joke? Obviously you don't watch many leaf games, Bernier has been unbelievable all season. Leafs wouldn't be in a playoff spot without him. He had a bad game after two weeks off... - LeafsFan64
It wasn't I don't watch a ton of leaf games. |

Would love to see what Poulin could do playing a couple of games with the Rangers with that D and system. - ses111
I know the isles defense isn't great by any stretch but he's literally the worst goalie statistically in the league that's played over 20 games. He's gone next year and I'm glad. He's positionally horrendous and he over reacts and flops all over the place. He doesn't give himself the opportunity to make saves |

the system has nothing to do with the way he scrambles and bails on his stick. he is just fundamentally not a great goaltender. has he been left out to try? of course, but hes also a fish out of water after the initial shot. |

very impress with Lee.
As for Halmo. Yeah Im impressed. Just call him this year Colin MacDonald. He'll be hungry and play hard until he get a contract. Then he will get Lazy have a -20 rating. Its call TrentHunteritis.
Please dont mention Poulin. if Poulin played it it would have been a L for sure.
Nabby entitled to occasional off game. he has been sitting on couch for 2 weeks. he came up big when he had to.
If it was poulin, it would have been 3-0 after first period and we would have to battle back from that. - Spartiarti

when it comes to the most important thing a coach....Yeah they do ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif) - kasperrko
Their coaching choices have nothing to do with pricetag and everything to do with wanting a guy who will run along with their philosophy with little resistance. Coaches in the NHL don't make enough for their price to be a factor. |

I think you could make the argument that the Isles defense through a very significant period of this season was the worst in the league as well. Guess which goalie played the vast majority of our games while Strait and Vis were out.
As for the bold: The same could have been said about Nilsson, whose numbers are actually worse, but I think will ultimately be the better of the two. The same cold be said about DP while he was here. The common thread here is they all play(ed) for the New York Islanders.
I don't care who the goalie is, if you put him behind a defense that can't prevent cross slot passes and clear their own crease, you're going to wind up with a goalie who has to flop here and flop there in order to frantically keep up. I've seen plenty of flopping from Nabby himself this season.
I think the ship has nearly sailed on Poulin at this point so he's as good as gone, but it certainly will be interesting if Colorado picks him up and suddenly he becomes a decent NHL goaltender. Then folks here can wonder why he didn't turn in to Brodeur during his less than 50 career starts here. |

Keaner, it would be sweet to have Patrick Roy pick up Poulin and show Cappy how someone coaches a young goalie. I'm not sure how many young players have to take off for other teams before others start to think maybe it's the Islanders and not the young players? |

I agree I think Martin does his job. He is not on this team to get goals but to hit and knock guys off the puck and he has done that - kasperrko
Nope the forth line used to be a strength on this team... it has not be this year, there seems to be no energy out of it at all & Martin is a big part of that.

They have been more inconsistent with their play arguably then any other line on this team. At times somewhat effective and then dissappear for long stretches. |

I'm sorry I don't see what you guys are seeing with Martin.. I see a guy who is playing as desperate as he use to.. Not the same energy... I see a guy who bounces off a dman after the puck is long gone. I don't see a guy making a hit to cause a turnover

Poulin won't be good anywhere. Nilsson is positionally sound but has no reaction time and sits far back in his net. He is in much more control. |

Joel Quennville is the NHL's highest paid coach making just over $2million per season. The average NHL coach makes $750k to $1million Do you actually believe Wang, who offered Vanek $62 million and Amac $16 million is cutting corners on a coach over $1million? Come on. I know you want to demonize the guy for not being an outgoing owner but that's a bit silly. |
