The kids were good. I thought Nabby was lousy. No idea why this guy has to play everygame. |

Cappy should be fired for just his handling of the goalies. Let Poulin play now that Vish and Hamonic are back. Nabby is not the future and should not be the backup next year. I really hope Poulin goes to another team and shines. |

I just think at BEST....BEST case scenario Poulin is a backup goalie..he will play..just not gonna get the lion share of the work until they are eliminated |

Trade Vanek to LA for Toffoli + 2014 1st round pick OR Anaheim for Gibson + 2014 1st round pick
Trade MacDonald + our 2014 3rd round pick to Boston or Detroit for their 1st round pick
Trade all 3 of our 1st round picks for Ekblad
Thus the long picture....
We traded away: Moulson, MacDonald, our 2015 1st round pick, 2014 2nd round pick, 2014 3rd round pick
We received: Ekblad & Toffoli or Ekblad and Gibson
If Garth did this I would say the whole trading for Vanek and whatnot was a wash.

If my trades above happened, we'd start 2014-15 with...
Nelson - Tavares - Okposo
Grabner- Nielsen - Toffoli
Lee- Strome - Clutterbuck
Halmo - Cizikas - Martin
Bailey (yuck)
Hamonic - DeHaan
Visnovsky - Ekblad
Reinhart - Hickey
Donovan - Carkner

I was very impressed with both Halmo and Lee. Halmo was noticeable in his first shift with a big hit. He was good all game. Lee looks so solid on his skates. Like a rock, and his skating has improved.
Grabner and Boulton (yes, Boulton) also looked very good.
It's great to have something to look forward to in these last 20 or so games. |

Yes but we're not trying to assess Nabby's future here. If we're playing the 'kids' to get a good look at them, why do we stick the vet in net night in and night out. It would seem to me that perhaps we could have given Poulin a couple of games leading up to the deadline to maybe make him a bit more visible as a potential throw-in on a deal.

Not a bad suggestion, though I still think you'll have a tough time coaxing a 1st rounder out of someone for Amac. You're more likely to get two seconds or a 2nd and a 3rd. I don't think throwing a 3rd in will change that. |

Funny thing about Boulton. As much as we groan when he's in the lineup, he actually seems to play with decent energy and has at least 1-2 decent scoring opportunities per night by crashing the net the way he does. At this point I think he plays a better role for us than Colin McDonald.
In regards to Lee. Both he and Nelson will really change the dynamic of this team up front next year. Even with the loss of Vanek, I kinda like what I see in terms of our group of forwards next year. Solidifying goaltending an adding a decent top four guy on defense could improve this team by leaps and bounds.
When considering the size of Lee, Nelson, Reinhart, Mayfield and a couple of others, we're actually shaping up to be a big and fast team in the not-so-distant future. |

I'd be beyond shocked if it was Ryan Miller. Unless he was willing to sign a contract. |

Please tell me you are joking about Poulin. Poulin is not the answer either to be honest |

Cause Poulin is horrendous. He still needs tiem in the AHL he is only 23 years old. Give him some time Goalies usually do not mature for years. Nabby is way better than Poulin and day of the week |

Miller is set to start tonight for Buffalo. I think they want to give him a sendoff, so I doubt they'll finalize a deal today. |

He is an RFA. It's unlikely they will bring him back as the plan will (IMO) likely be to extend Nabby one more year and pair him with a UFA while Nilsson gets renewed and spends more time at Bridgeport. For that reason, the Isles need to either fish or cut bait with Poulin. So it's decision time. |

And playing a goalie every game that cannot lift his glove hand is? Poulin probably is not the answer. Still rather he get some games in than Nabby getting every game. Like keaner wrote, maybe he can be included as a thrown in? How does sitting him on the bench help? |

By hook or by crook we have to get our goalie of the future!! Enough of the draft picks, our D is going to get better next year and the year after that, we need a GOALIE!!! |
