The only difference with those statements, especially in typed form is the choice of words. Personally my opinion is based on what I see. He doesn't look like a sound goaltender thus far in his career. Also, hearing from people that are avid watchers of Bridgeport, they can tell you the same thing. So while it certainly is possible he could end up being a useful player on a team one day, the isles aren't in position to find that out anymore. They don't have a starter that can play 70 games. So as people have said, nabby as our backup next year with a legit NHL starter makes this team measurably better.

Agreed there. What I don't agree with is the ridiculous idea that Poking was the catalyst for this teams failure. If anything I would say they were the catalyst for his troubles.

Nilsson is a lot better than Poulin. He does not flop like a fish on a dump in. Poulin is constantly on the ice when he should be up. Either he is not a great goalie or someone is not teaching him how to play the sport.

Being a former a goalie my coach always wanted me up on my skates and not down. Once you go down and flop around you can not gain position and leaves for an easy goal. He needs to learn how to be a stand up goalie

I always preferredstand up style. I used to hate when my kids would go butterfly. That said its a dying form and big kids like Nilsson and Poulin are better off playing butterfly. A goalie like Nabby plays a good hybrid.

Not sure what is Buffalo about to do with all these picks. Soon they will have more AHL players than the Islanders on the roster.

Watch almost every UFA goalie resign or get traded and signed by the draft. I have a bad feeling Garth is going to wait til July 1st and find nothing left.

Word is they're not done...that Stewart's possibly going to Ottawa for more prospects/picks and they might even flip Halak as well. Gotta say this...when the Sabres decide to rebuild, they really stockpile their draft picks.

A good backup on a team with a very solid D and system? No way.

With Yashin, Blake, Satan, Sillinger, and Poti, Garth had a few legitimate assets when he took over. A 69 point man and two 59 point men, he had some assets. He had no respect as a GM around the league. I feel Patty instantly gets more respect. We'll see who does better in the next few years.
