I think Vanek goes to Anaheim for Fasth, Vatanen and a pick... - kear20
Vanek for Gibson straight up. Do you make that deal? Discuss. |

IMO I don't like either of them. Vat amen may have some skill however he's small. I'd rather a big defensemen. Fasth is already 31 years old. |

Ive seen worse, ive seen better... I look at what he has built since the start of the rebuild and what is coming down the pipeline & I don't question his vision. He's building a very good team, which is what a GM is supposed to do.
My only knocks on him are not getting anything for Streit or PAP & keeping this lame @ss coach.

You have to add other players through trade, fa, etc. He has not been able too. Cannot draft alone. This season is an example of that. His continual endorsement of Capuano is unforgivable imo and shows just how inept he is. |

How do you figure?? Amac has a better carrer PPG then DG, more blocked shots, more ice time.. if anything.. his agent now thinks Amac is worth MORE then 5.5

Poulin sent down. Nilsson up. Could Anders be getting his contract audition? Hope so. - keaner17
Cappy just wants to see if Nilsson looks better sitting behind Nabby. |

Yeah, it's a funny thing how stats work in terms of a contract- I'd take Girardi in a heartbeat over MacDonald, but MacDonald looks better on paper except +/-, which the agent always tries to blame on the team....of course, the team might be minus because the players are, but the agents never look at it that way. Then again, if you use advanced stats like Corsi, the picture of MacDonald being nowhere near worthy of Girardi becomes clearer. For a team with a coach who talks a lot of sh*t about "puck possession", this one certainly doesn't do much of it, and MacDonald is one of the worst. I wouldn't trade you Girardi for MacDonald AND a first round pick, no way. - dcb1
Same here, I wish we had 3 Dan Girardis on the team!

With respect to FA, No TOP FA have ever signed here.. even when Torrey was GM... the islanders have always been in turmoil from cheap ownership after cheap ownership to circus like atmosphere around the team. I think Snow has made good trades to be honest with you & his wire pick ups have worked out very well. His endorsement of Cappy is a major red flag, but I think that has more to do with Wang then Snow.. either way it is a reflection on Snow.

I wouldn't just dismiss Vatanen.. Kid can play. With all the size coming up he would be a nice fit. However if I'm Anaheim their is no way I'm trading him or Gibson for a rental.. I just can't see it happening

the blues upgrading their team can make the Ducks squirm a bit and trade what they weren't expecting to trade a few days ago. This trade could help St.Louis win the Prez.

I thought at 1 time Snow knew what he was doing, but after 6+ years, sorry I now question does he know what he is doing? Forget about whats coming down the pipeline bc most are D and take longer to develop.
I've stated numerous times Snow's weakness is evaluating his own roster of who/what is the future for this team.
I could breakdown all the issues and facts, but it will be to long to bother, but I'll just point out that if you think he's done a fair job at least, I don't.....
Snow has managed to hold onto players to long and not receive anything back, or lack to see the true non-potential of a player on his roster. Snow has also shown of not knowing how to maximize a trade or be creative enough to really engage a trade to help benefit this club.
No professional NHL coach ever hired to help teach the development of these kids, we could have tons of talent now or coming, but means shat if they don't progress well enough. The future does appear bright with kids but without veteran NHL players integrated isles are not getting better.
I believe there is a lack of respect towards Snow being GM from other GM's and possibly players and/or agents, I don't know why, but have funny feeling.
No WORTHY FA will sign here.
The only positive thing I witnessed Snow doing so far is draft, waiver wire, and able to maintain the cap floor, other than that he's failed....

Since they take longer to develop we should forget they are all his acquisitions?
I see that he knows full well what he views as the future of this team.

Gibson isn't going anywhere, Andersson would get dealt 1st. Also I could see Hiller resign possibly for 3 more years there. The Ducks will get rid of Sbisa & Souray and have more cap space to spend.....
Ducks are a solid organization and have been for years, don't see them panic on stupidity.... There kids on D are the future and wont be traded for a rental. |

Snow gets a big hit for letting PA walk for nothing and his handling of Nino and the coaching hires and the signing of Regin and PMB and letting the season fall apart in November. The negatives just outway the positives with Garth. Let's see what he can do this offseason with the coach and FA's. |

After 6 years drafting high, Snow should accumulate prospects...
By the time the D-kids develop, Isles will be looking for F's to develop...
If your waiting on these D-kids to make an impact, tact on another 3 more years, which will be Snow's 9-10 years into rebuild, which by then should not be called a rebuild, more like a decade of nonsense. |

I'm more hopeful since it's a year from Brooklyn and this years lousy playoffs. I think Snow will give up some young talent if he has to this offseason. Just cannot see another Regin or PMP offseason. |

So deHaan, Donovan, and Hamonic need 3 more years. Reinhart, Ness, Pedan, Mayfield, Pulock arent already knocking on the door???
When they are ready we will be looking to replace JT, KO, Strome, Nelson etc??

If you get a chance, look at what players who will be free agents on capgeek.
Besides the WORTHY FA's on that list, the majority are too old and not worth it or no better than what we have and not worth the $$$
So honestly if Snow is not able to bring in a WORTHY FA, I'd rather have/see the kids play instead.

Most of the team will be made up of the kids. Still think a worthy FA or someone in a trade will be added. We all joke but the clock is ticking on Garth. Charles is not going to want to protect Garth if this team is still struggling on in Brooklyn. |

Do we really know how Reinhart, Pedan, Mayfield, Pulock will be? Unless you have a crystal ball. They are kids & prospects and this coaching staff will slowly hinder their development. So yes, they might take 3 years to even consider helping this team for the future.
DeHaan is already the best Dman on team "only question is can he stay healthy", Donovan will probably not be with team, Hamonic has regressed immensely last year & this year.
KO contract will be up in 2yrs and Grabs also, do you think they are getting paid $6M + I don't.....
JT & Nelson are the only definite, I hold judgment on Strome for now....
My point being is if you are gonna wait for this kids without adding NHL talent, this team will NEVER progress....cause then isles keep the cycle going in circles... |

What makes you think this at all?? Why will the way Wang runs the team change ANY once we are in Brooklyn??
I believe we will have a better chance at signing free agents once we are in Brooklyn.. But I do not see Wang changing anything in the way he conducts business.
