Larsson's contract is up after this year to. I would imagine both he and Gelinas will get 2 year bridge deals - blizzzard
That's right it is, well then we may be able to land one top tier forward then. |

Who is set to become a f/a this year I don't count Vanek since everyone seems to have an idea of where he is headed. is there any worth grabbing ? Don't think we need anymore bottom 6 guys we could maybe use a punch up front in the top 6 though. |

Does anyone think something will be done with ether Sal or A-train? I just feel Lou won't have the balls to move one of the guys we should move and will end up moving Fayne or Larsson and keep all of Zid, Sal, A-Train and Harrold. |

Well, of them all, Jagr has more points than any of them, BUT...
List of 2014 UFA Forwards:
Stastny, Vrbata, Legwand, Moulson, Hemsky, Callahan, Setoguchi, Cammalleri, others not worth mentioning really. |

I think Stastny gets resigned. I would take Cammi at like 4 but that won't happen |

I don't think we need another center but he would fit in nicely with us I think he resigns in Detroit he is from Michigan. I'm not big on Moulson but he would be an upgrade I just think he is looking for the big pay day. |

Vrbata = 32

Moulson = 30
Hemsky = 30
Cammalleri = 31
Knock those off the list. We need some youth & speed. Enough is enough. |

Well Stastny and Callahan are the only below 30 year old forwards I would even entertain signing come this June. It's not a great UFA class, certainly not for players under 30. Gotta do something. |

The only way you get youth or speed is by either the draft or trades. Seeing as we'll be 30th this year, chances of that player coming in and making a roster spot are slim. The only noticeable players we have for forwards is Matteau and Boucher and I would probably keep them bot h in Albany next year, not to ruin them.
As for trades, we're not getting someone like Eberile without losing a keep piece in another position. We have for standout defensemen in Larrson, Gelinas, Merrill, and Severson, but giving up one of them would still mean we would have to fill that with a older slower defenseman, or someone or isn't as young or good as them. So the only to fill or upgrade the RW or third line center would be to sign free agents. |

We also have Santini, we picked Urbom back up ( obviously a lower tier of prospect to the first few names but still liked in the organization ) There isn't a real NEED to keep All of Santini, Severson, Gelinas, Merril and Larsson When 3 of them aren't even making an impact on the club right now it wouldn't be a bad idea to move Larsson for a young scorer I really don't see how that creates a hole when we still have Fayne and Greene that aren't old and will be playing for at least 5 -9 more years. You also don't know what NJ is going to do at the draft. I really hope this doesn't happen but could totally see it happening with the way this team is run we might end up taking defense men with our first and second round picks ( which I think would be a horrible mistake unless they can't be passed up, In which case there would be even less need for one of those guys already here) But they need to sort out Sal/Volchenkov/Harrold I just don't see how any of the three have a future with the team. I don't care how they go but I would really like for 2 of them to be gone come the start of next season. I really think Zid has earned himself another contract in Lou's eyes and I am not sure I would argue it at this point but something has to be done we can't have Larsson in the minors and Merril or Gelinas shouldn't be there next year either. All three should be playing in the NHL and come next year there should be no more excuses Lou needs to man the (frank) up and get rid of his captain and Volchenkov. |

We have plenty of young defensman to make up for the loss of one. It needs to be the right move, but Lou should be looking to see if he can get an <26 top 6 forward for one of them. |

I forgot Santini and Urbom. I think Santini would be good, but Urbom has been in Albany in years and I'm not sure if it's him not being on the team is because of the amount of D we have or because of his skill set. Bu then again we sit Gelinas and Larrson in Albany for Sal and Volch. I didn't mention Greene or Fayne because they are not that young Fayne 27, Greene 31. I think Fayne will probably leave this year because of the amount of D and playing time he gets. I didn't mention this Greene because he isn't young, I was justing talking about the future guys coming up. I wouldn't mind getting a young guy for one of the big four, like an Eberlie, and I completely agree with you on Lou has to do something. |

I would be trying to. Only thing seems to be that all the teams with players that match that criteria seemed to be loaded on D which kind of sucks. Well I guess minus the Oilers but the Jets, Ducks, Lightning, Coyotes, |

I'm not big on Urbom but he does seem to be one of the only ones that drops their gloves and the Hegleson guy but like you said he isn't on the team because he isn't talented enough. I think I would be very open to moving Larsson for the right player but I also still think he has the most potential and or highest potential of all our kids. |

I think we might be able to work a deal with the Ducks or Lightning, but it is difficult. The draft is usually pretty busy though. |

I don't care that he is Russian I would love to have Taresenko but again he is a very valuable asset and defense is the last thing St.Louis needs |

I think that's were it's hard to judge which one to trade because we have to keep the guy or guys that will make us better down the line. Everyone has their own opinion and with that they'll look at it differently on who to trade. I think either Merrill or Larrson should be traded, not Gelinas. I think Gelly's importance to our PP outweighs his defensive side. But I think if we do decide to trade one, we have to keep in mind who will be our coach because if PDB is then it should be Larrson going, if PDB is not in our future plans than it should be Merrill. |

Jussi Jokinen. More consistent/better two-way player than Brunner.
Ruutu-Zajac-Jagr
Elias-Henrique-Jokinen
Clowe-Zubrus-Ryder
Matteau-Josefson-Bernier
Extra: Brunner, Carter
Also, we need a third line center. Zubrus won't do. |

Yeah, its not really ruutu's contract itself that I'm worried about, but we have a lot of money tied up in older, gritty players that tend to decline at a younger age. If we keep half of Volchenkov's salary we might be able to trade him this offseason. - rmdevil313
Ryder really looks expendable after Ruutu coming on board. $3.5 mil is too much for a guy on the third line. Hoping we will be able to get him off the books at the draft for a late round pick. Teams like Florida always collect trash. |

Is Etem that good. I know Anaheim has a lot of prospects, but I think Lou has to decide if he wants a work in progress prospect or an already established young player, like Eberle, 24 in May, or Kane, 23 in August. I think Kane is the less likely because I don't think Lou would want to deal with this attitude. |
