If Stalberg is a 4th liner then so is Versteeg. 4th liners don't score 20 goals and hit 40 points. And before anyone talks about Nashville, no one on earth could score there, they haven't had a player have 60 points in 5 years. Versteeg's in the exact same role and can't score any more than Stalberg did with Shaw and Bickell and Versteeg had Kane. I don't argue that they couldn't pay him 3 million though, just didn't work money wise. Trotz is playing him in defensive situations, that's idiotic. I really think Trotz is a bad coach, got lucky having two of the best 5 defensemen in the league and a stud goalie to cover for an ineffective system.

Yet some will tell you how great a coach he is...and in the same breath tell you how horrible and lucky Q is

It is past time for that. I think the time for that was a game or two after the Ogi break ended. One decent game against Detroit is a start, but let's see it the next two days and beyond.

The truth for the rest of the season.

A game when they don't show up.

Time to start showing up every game, from the opening puck drop.

That doesn't answer the question. You said they're all winnable games, implying other games aren't. Every game is winnable for the Hawks, it's not like they have to play Team Canada or anything. If the end of the season was so important the Penguins should have killed the Bruins.

Thanks Ogi, I never saw that version!

You know I can die right now.

We magically won two Cups in ways that basically had the other Finalist saying, "What Happened?"

Not sure why you jump all over every comment I make.

I'll just agree with you.

He didn't sleep last night, Saint. There are factors in a long season that make some games less winnable than others, i.e., travel, injury, etc. There is a pattern this season where the Hawks have a game or two of less-than-stellar performance, followed by a game or two of dominance. I'd hoped that this pattern would end at the Olympic break, but it hasn't. Optimists would say that the "recovery" games suggests that the team still has it. Pessimists would say the pattern suggests a lack of intensity that will cause trouble in the post-season. Reality is likely somewhere between.

For the record, the pattern concerns me and will until I see it end. But who the phuck really knows? I mean, other than Elbows.

How did he taunt him or was that sarcasm?
- Glenman12

It was after he jumped into niemi's arms and they announced the goal was under review. Kane skated by the philly net and it looked like he was taunting leighton by waving his arms or something. Right after campbell went over to hug Kane.

Ok...just go look up or watch where he plays...who his centre is.

20 goals he has SEVEN FREAKING GOALS and a minus 15

less than 60 goals over 300 regular games

Versteeg 100 goals over less that 400 games
Ratios & Proportions

60 100
---- -----
300 400

at the current pace at 400 games Stalberg has 80 goals and the thing is....

Versteeg is playmaker with twice as many assists than Stalberg.

Oh I just went to that daily fantasy hockey site where you check which goalie and which line all the guys play on....
http://www2.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/

they update it close to daily.....Stalberg on the fourth line

To me it looked like he was looking right at Leighton and did some windmill type motion with his arms. Just seemed like taunting. I could be wrong. Nothing wrong with celebrating a huge win

I just don't totally understand your opinion on the current team. I don't get the "this is when teams prove themselves" idea, its the regular season.

Legitimately sorry if it seems personal, it's not. I would hope we've had enough good conversations and jokes on here to know I like you. Again sorry if it seems personal, really not intentional, you're one of my favorite posters.

Good post.

I just have to say i LIKE it when co Hawk fans scrap on this board and publically come to an understanding or at least a resolution of sorts..

See US v. 6628. And so on.

I only attack and have beef with CANUSA17 of the Canucks board...

I appreciate the comments.

I think that the way a team is playing currently - especially if the sample of games is big enough (and 25 or so games is big enough) is a measure of the team at the current point in time - not what they were 4 and 5 months ago, but what they are now.

ESPECIALLY if almost all the signs agree with the 25 game record - the lack of production from just about every skater except Toews and Hossa (and, to be fair, Smith and Bollig); a drop in offense of about a full goal per game since January 1; a drop in the PP from topping the league to being in the bottom half over the past 25 games; and record that is (I think) 4th in the division and 6th in the conference - the only are that has shown improvement has been the PK.

It make no sense to me to keep crowing about the 3rd best PPin the league when it's been a disaster for over two months (longer?).

THAT'S why the remaining 15 games are important: I don't want them going into the play-offs needing to figure out how to win again - let's figure it out before April 13.

that's true. I still don't know why he was the only one down there by Leighton when everyone else was in the Hawks end or the middle celebrating. But enough of that. Let's get a HUGE win tonight and tomorrow
