To me, the only realistic path is LTIR for Caboose. If TT lights it up, Zues comes back for the playoffs when the cap is gone. If he doesn't, they shut him down to save a contract year and Zues gets fresh (like Hossa's legs did). - mohel
If Saad's out for a while then we could have our answer right there. Hopefully that's not the case, Saad needs to keep playing and be ready for the playoffs. But it could be the opportunity right in front of us.
Either way it's not a big deal. If he plays or doesn't TT won't likely have a big impact on the team this year. It's just exciting to see a first round pick getting that much closer to being ready. |

I'm inclined to agree with you....there really is no other way. Like you said, it would make no sense to acquire Rundblad and Regin if the plan was to bring TT over all along......but it also sounds as if he won't play until the Hawks have 9 games left. |

Yep, I'm wait and see on TT. If he's here this year, it'll be fun to watch him, but it ain't no thang if he's not. Saad would have to miss a couple weeks for an LTIR trip, and for sure they're not going to stretch injury time with him to test out TT. A fossil like Zues or maybe Rozy? Maybe. |

He probably just black aces it up until the playoffs - mrpaulish
possibly.
Stan is not waving anyone. Depends on how quick he wants TT to play. I am assuming TT can play in Rockford a few games - no cap hit for the hawks?
Currently according to capgeek - TT is a non roster player.
Found this on wiki: •Team salary expenditures are calculated on a daily basis from the first day to the final day of the NHL regular season.
Which has made sense, TT plays last 6 games (11days), approximately 50k
Also found this link at sb nation - that says demote Raanta and bring up Lababarra (buried contract), which also might be why LaB was playing in Rockford alot and Raanta is resting here: http://www.secondcityhock...p-magic-to-fit-teravainen

Remember when the Hawks brought all of the Icehogs...er most of them for the last game of the season last year....how were they able to circumvent the cap? Or because of the new collective bargaining agreement are we not able to use that as a reference? |

has that changed? I was looking for references. Can't find it anywhere. Maybe that is why you didn't see players on the Rockford shuttle anymore. |

They had the cap space to do that. After recalling all those guys they still had about $2.8 million in cap space left. |

also from capgeek. i thought less than 10 regular games, not including playoffs. But this might have been changed
capgeek: Also ... If Teravainen signs for 2013-14, his contract will slide if he appears in fewer than 10 regular season *and* playoff games. |

What if they legitimately believe TT helps win them a cup? Is a cup worth a second round draft pick? - rollpards19
Without anyone seeing him play in North America against the best players in the world?
Do you legitimately anyone in the Blackhawks front office legitimately believes he can help win a Cup?
If they do, they're dummer than Gilles and Torts. |

I've written about this at least ten times and don't really want to go over it again. But the bottom in is that the team needs cap space for the AAV (aka cap hit) of the player. If you want more detail, Cap Geek has it if you look around awhile. |

Slide rules are different than the cap. Slide refers to whether this year counts as one of the three ELC years. Still have to fit him in the cap. |

Saw the article earlier today and the cap hits are a wash - so do you send Raanta to the Rock and bring up Lab. or not - some back to backs coming up here - starting tomorrow night with Philly and then the Blues.
Have to believe the kid is going to come and play here either down the stretch or in the playoffs. |

What if he's better than Regin and/or Zues? Would that make the team better and increase odds of playoff success?
BTW - excellent misspelling of dumber while calling someone else (correctly) dumb! |

ya, can only play 9 games.
Same question as Stl, is it worth using up one year of his contract at 925k for a long shot of helping the hawks win a cup. the question - how much value will he bring. |

If he plays games at RFD do they count toward the nine? Players that play all year in RFD, but never play for the Hawks will use up a year of ELC. Maybe his age will prevent that.
Edit - checked....it is NHL games that count, so he can play in RFD without counting toward that ten. That's what's gonna happen at first, IMO. |

This is ridiculous. You don't think he can contribute better than how horrible Handzus has been for 20 games? All he has to do is be one sliver better than someone who would be in the lineup and its worth it. For someone who can't stop talking about a lack of goals, the ability to add an offensive talent in place of the offensive blackhole that is Handzus doesn't really make any sense. |

TT to Rockford is best case scenario. He. Is. Not. Playing. NHL this year. Mayyyyyybe a showcase game at the end of the season when standings are set.
No doctor is going to sign off on an LTIR that does not exist.
Stan and company will not risk losing Regin or Brookbank to waivers when both are proven players.
They won't blow a year of ELC on an unknown quantity especially during playoffs.
Learn to love the team they have.

Yeah - let myself in for that - wish I could say I done it on purpose.
IF he's better, then it WOULD make the team better. I've given up on not wanting him to come to Chicago for the magical nine games.
But I wouldn't want to lose (thru waivers) a player who could possibly produce something in the play-offs - even if it's "only" Regin (who has done some nice things) or Rundblad (who's only played obe game). |

The cap problem is the same for one game or 82. |
