Yeah, agreed. Outplayed all but the first couple of minutes. Flyers could have scored a bunch more. Multiple posts and plenty of missed WIDE OPEN nets. Raanta was just not very good tonight for a lot of the game, yes he made a few nice saves, but also got real lucky tonight also.
- TheTrob

that has been pretty much how he has played all season - he is very quick and makes some good saves. but does have some lapses. Does seem slow from post to post. And does lose his net at times.

No way. Versteeg makes lots of errors but that one wasn't on him. That possession change was 190 feet from his net and they had equal or better numbers back. Not an odd man break or breakaway, just a soft goal

Why did Philly have the puck ?

Bad loss. But simply because we did gain a pt and tie the Avs in the standings, id say as long as we get 2 points with an impressive showing in tomorrow nights game then everything should still be alright.

39 wins and 30 losses isn't fun. We may have got points in 15 of those losses but it's still disturbing. The only change that needs to be made is a stronger effort...NHL games are 60 minutes nothing less.
- DarthKane

Absolutely correct........... terrible effort by most. Kane the exception again and at least Bickell showed some effin heart. PP terrible as always and Quenneville will live and die with Keith and Sharp at the point. What the heck is wrong with Bollig ?
He is not the same guy anymore. Not that he was a difference maker anyway, but
somebody must have told him he's a goal scorer now so he doesn't have to use the body ???????????

His presence was also the reason many here thought Crowford's deal was horrendous. How things change quickly.

No, but just once it'd be nice to have a goalie make the big saves. It wasn't the teams best game, but can we get a shutout? At least a shootout there's a chance at 2 points.
- rollpards19

The backup goalie who has played once or twice in a month or two? That's the guy who is supposed to come up with the goalie win? Very reasonable. Let's focus on a team that is supposed to be the best in the league playing in a very inconsistent manner.

It's been decided...it's all Raanta's fault...should pitch a shut out every game

- Glenman12

Blues are intense and you'll see that tomorrow night.
We should have plenty of energy to stay close with all the passengers tonight.

When he played those 10 games in a row (or whatever), Hawks protected him well, and he didn't show many of these bad tendencies.

Since - only a couple of games - his bad traits seem to have magnified.

Maybe next year he spends in Rockford (where he should have been this year).

Absolutely correct. Eat the time in the corner with possession or put it on net, not a backhanded pass across the middle

Beating the Blues would help erase this game. But the team needs to lose this crap where they can't play consistently for more than 10 minutes at a time.

No, Crawford should get the shutout, Raanta should make the save in OT, and Versteeg should be less worthless.

Raanta gave up two goals in regulation despite the Hawks getting outshot by 12. Seriously, 37 shots on Raanta. I am not sure what the Hawks expected the Flyers to do tonight. Were they expecting Philly to bend over and spread their cheeks?

Not too long ago Raanta was tagged as the goalie of the future and was pushing Crawford out the door. How things change quickly...
- DarthKane

Raanta isn't a spot starter. He needs to work, and still develop his game. That last goal was due to poor positioning. Period. They better find a way to get LaBabs up here.

On the positive side, Bickell beat the poop out of Simmonds.

I'm not giving up on the guy, but I agree he's not ready for the show. They could have helped him a bit by giving up less than 37 shots.

Say what you will about this team, but whether it is Cup Hangover, Olympics, compressed season followed by little off season and another compressed schedule because of the Olympics, this team has played very few complete games this season. Heck, they have played very few games with 20 minutes of solid play. That being said they are still among the top teams in the league. They turn it on for a few minutes at a time and manage to stay in games. How many times have they been blown out? How many times have they lost by 2 goals (without an empty net goal)?

Not sure if they are "coasting" thru this season, knowing they will make the playoffs and can do some damage there if they remain fairly healthy, but at times it sure seems like it. In most games they show periods of time where they totally dominate the game and then just kind of conserve energy the rest of the time.

Until someone knocks them off in the playoffs you have to think they will bring it in the postseason for longer periods, knowing what it will take. Gotta believe it until proven otherwise.

Yeah, you guys are right - bad pass 190 feet away means Raanta doesn't have to make a save.

This team should have been able to get five or six on Emery: offensive struggles continue, especially for core-men not named Toews or Hossa. (I know Shaw scored one tonite - my point stands).

But Raanta easily could have given up 7 or 8 tonite: 4 posts (which would have been two goals), three times lucky when he couldn't get from post-to-post on wraparounds.

I'm not either: I still like him for the future.

I just hope he's not the back-up next year, but as someone pointed out, he's some kind of free agent this summer.
