Mohel, your right, there was a better play that could have been made by Versteeg, but in the realm of Steeger brain farts this one was pretty mild. He had support behind him, and didn't turn it over at the blue line like normal and give up an odd man break. It wasn't as deep as it could have been, but it was still below the dot/circle.
- TheTrob

Not a really bad play, imo, by Versteeg. But he should have taken the shot. Elbows is right also; Keith should have closed the gap because another guy was deep with him. And Raanta should make the save (although it did go through Keith).

No problem. I just wasn't sure of the stats. Do you still have the stats for this high-powered offense since January 1st? It is looking bad
- tomcat24

No, but I don't think the numbers would show much change after the past few games.

4 wins 5 losses (all skating) since the break.

Tomorrow will show us what the future holds for this team.

Big game, must win....that's obvious. However, it's how they respond after this putrid loss against arguably the best team in the west. Will they wilt or will they play like champions? Tomorrow will tell us what some of us suspect or what some of us are afraid to admit.....including myself.

- UnnamedSource

I think it was telling that Kane was screaming for the team to wake up. Honestly, I think that was the Disney version.

I hate to say it. I hope Q treats tomorrow like a playoff game and plays the third d pairing even less.

the boys are tired - excuse is already baked in. But usually the Hawks play fairly well on back to backs.

Maybe they should just focus on being rested and ready for game one against COL. Rest some guys a game or two down the stretch, try some sh!t out. It doesn't matter whether they have home ice in that series - if they're playing like they have lately, home ice won't matter; and if they play like they can, home ice won't matter.
- mohel

As much as i agree that if we're playing our A game the home ice wont matter, i also think why not try and get the home ice if its right there for us to take? We're tied with the Avs right now. Lets beat them out and get that extra comfort of playing at home to start the series. Might as well...

I wouldn't disagree at this point.

Split the first two in Denver and you've got home ice back.

No I know they didn't play well. But they've lost a lot of games where they have played well. Colorado wins every freaking game playing like the Hawks just did, can you imagine that? Goaltending is the great equalizer, and the Hawks almost always have the second best goaltender on the ice.
- rollpards19

Isn't that the plan? The Hawks model calls for a good, not great, goalie who is protected by well-compensated skaters. Most games they are getting good, not great, goaltending. It is the inconsistent skaters that are causing the trouble.

Five hits for Bollig.
- StLBravesFan

You mean playing for the White Sox today then right ??
I did notice one good one late in the 3rd period but maybe I missed the others.
Thanks.

It was until they signed Crow to a huge deal. But really can you imagine that this is how every game for Colorado and Toronto goes and they win?

Not sure if tomorrow shows you anything. Win or lose. Yes it would be nice to some some heart and play a compete game, but a must win? Why a must win? Reality of the standings and 3 point games mean they probably can't catch the blues (I know it's mathematically possible, just not probable). So what makes it a must win?

Having guys like Regin and rundblad on the roster is crippling this team. I won't even get into whether they suck or not, its not my point. If they aren't going to get any ice time, they are putting more of a burden on the rest of the forwards. They are already dragging Handzus around. Two guys from Rockford like Morin and Nordstrom would inject some life and energy into this team. And at this point, bot are more useful and better players thatn those 2.

I'd think you were serious, but when was the last time a White Sox player got five hits?

Credited with 5 hits in the box score in only 9 minutes of ice time.

I understand your point, but I don't think it is that big of a game, standings-wise. They aren't going to catch the Blues, and are going to play the Avs in round one. It is a measuring stick for ME, but I'm not sure it is for them - I think they know what they can and can't do against STL. That said, I want to see desperation tomorrow.

It's a must win because if the Hawks cannot gain any traction or momentum heading towards the playoffs, it's going to end up being a real short post season.

Not quite Mo. Crawford hasn't a great season. He is better than he has played this year.

I have to agree with you...could the Runblad deal been made during the offseason??? I don't know but carrying 8 dmen does not allow for a lot of flexibility. I would rather Regin and Morin or Nordstrom....as my extra. They didn't carry 8 dmen last year.....
