Question for all....could Stan have done a better job of giving us more cap leeway for late season moves ? Seems we're constantly up TIGHT against the cap leaving MINIMAL flexibility !
- philco28

Constantly? Two years ago Stan couldn't find a partner at the TDL and ended up eating all the cap flexibility that he got from the Campbell trade. Last year there were few holes and only the Handzus move was really needed. The only years I think he was limited were 2011 (which everyone knew was coming) and this year when the cap went down.

Cap space would be nice right now, for sure. But if he left space and then didn't find the right player, many of us would be upset that he didn't go for it. Last season he was open to that criticism, but everything worked out fine and it was no big deal. He'll be criticized either way if things don't go well, imo. That's the way it goes - it comes with the job.

I agree with your friend, but I'm not sure he understands the holes in this roster.

Our problem is we see this team to much: we over analyze problems the likely don't exist.

But I think the national (and other local) experts tend to over-value the Hawks.

- StLBravesFan

I guess it's easy to overvalue them when they've won 2 of the last 4 cups. They are as close as you'll get to a dynasty. Old style dynasties have been done away with by the cap.

I think they had a few million last year, which allowed for basically the whole Rockford roster to be called up for the final game. So, that and 2012 would have him solvent with space to move in two of the last four years.

The 2011 cap crunch was the left overs from the cap hell from the first cup team. This year was partly Bickell and partly the cap going down. If Stan is going to be cap strapped every TDL after we win a cup, maybe we'll just have to get used to it

Oshie not playing for Blues tonite - attending the birth of his daughter.

She couldn't have waited two days?

Blackhawk children are much more considerate as far as being born between games. Just another way our organization is better.

While I hope the Hawks win, I really hope the flyers make it. I'm a huge fan, especially of your forwards. What was your view of the carter and Richards trades? A lot of Flyer fans I talked to still liked them. I still am a huge fan of the return. Schenn, couts, voracek, and Simmonds are very good players
- tomcat24

I thought both trades were good at the time and still feel that way. Saying goodbye to Richards was much harder than Carter. I always though Carter was a soft player for such a big guy - always shooting (he does have a great shot), but never using his tremendous wheels to drive the net. While in Philly, Richards always did more with less than Carter. Since joining LA, Carter has looked much better and finally seems to be getting it. Back here, we love all 4 players they got for them. All filled gaping holes in their lineup. They also got picks back, one used to get Grossmann and one to pick Cousins (in the AHL, but developing slowly).

I feel for the Flyers fans. One bad break and the franchise majorly shifted South. Were Pronger healthy and still playing, you would be a serious threat in the East.

I like the new avatar - now that's a joint! Think the Hawks are finished, or did they need some negative crap to piss them off?
