Top 6 is gold brah, top 7 if the Swedish dude is for real.
And at Hamhuis' reaction to Booth when he dropped his stick late in the first. Someone has to make a gif of that poop. - Nucker101
I didn't watch. Just saying sometimes the guy you want drops. Nashville got Jones last year after he was supposed to go #1. It's worked out pretty well for them. I realize that was #5, but if the Canucks really want to move up they have a player or three they can deal to make that happen.
edit - what did Booth do? |

Too late, this game fcked this team over big time. Preds players and Trotz played it smart, hell of a team they have. |

6th overall pick was a stretch. As long as they make top 8 I'll be happy. Unless playoffs |

F* all the #tanknation bullshiite... Losers want to lose for a better draft pick (see EDM)... Peeps in/ from BC and Canucks fans worldwide should be better than that... Oilers and their fans are an embarrassment for getting the first picks and doing nothing all the while tanking all the time. |

The top 6 or 7 seems pretty much set, it's extremely hard to move up into the top 5 in the NHL draft.
If you PVR'd the fans rewatch the last 3 mins of the first. Hamhuis is behind his net ready to start a breakout and he had that "lol (frank)ing Booth smh" expression after Booth dropped his stick in his own zone without a Pred anywhere near him. |

My opposition to #tanknation is that it takes years of losing (getting high draft picks) to "build" your team. I don't believe you have to lose in order to win.
Maybe I'm wrong, I guess the past few SC winners all went through prolonged losing periods before they became contenders...
edit - maybe Boston is the exception? |

It was only possible if they went into freefall. If we lose vs all the playoff teams it may still be possible.

Im very competitive, but we are not making the playoffs... so if that is the case I would rather finish 12th in the west than 9th or 10th like Flames did for years.
This team has a solid core and just needs to "retool"... unfortunately this team (when healthy) is still a playoff team. And next year will most likely lead us back to 7th or 8th seed (old style standings) and 1st round exits |

I think expectations need to be tempered here. The kid we draft at that position may be a key piece towards a future core but he'll still be a kid that could easily be developed wrong or not make the leap to the NHL and end up being a dud. |

Story of the Canucks. We are not great at molding young talent. The best talent we've had in the past ten years have all been traded away.
I have high hopes for bo and Shink. But being a Canucks fan, I also have some large doubts.
And lots of guys on these boards are really high on Gaunce Sorry, I dont see it. I Think the kid will be a dud.
Im most looking forward to shink and Cassels.
Hopefully this Dane fox guy can turn some heads one day but I've never seen him play. |

It's easy to be a fan and say, lose for the future. It's a very different thing to be a professional athlete and not give your all. If there were players on the Canucks who quit on the team, I'd want them gone ASAP! |

but were not professional athletes. The playoffs are gone and I agree, We need to lose out for the good of this team.
So what if we make the playoffs? One and done. I wouldnt even be remotely excited for game one. But because I have blue and green running through my blood I'd watch every game as if it were there last.

Please, are you talking about Hodgson and Grabner? No one liked the Grabner pick when Nonis made it, and as it turns out, Hodgson was a royal pain in the ars. The Canucks have had very little young talent to develop, and while they were trying to win a Stanley Cup, they traded away some future for some now.
Team philosophy on drafting has undergone a renaissance, hopefully the new direction pays some dividends in the not too distant future. |

I expect every player to play their hardest to the final whistle, and that means winning games, so I'd rather win and pick 10th than lose and pick 6th. |
