I knew that.

The beauty is I also have the added luxury of getting dinged on my draft position because my team's lines apparently weren't set regularly earlier in the season. Yet I've been making moves and diligently setting my lines for the past month and am in exactly the same position as when I took over the team.

You will still be in position to get a solid upgrade player in the draft.

Have there been any trade proposals for getting Eric Staal to the Canucks yet?
This is going to be a fun offseason! 2 legit players up for trade, and hopefully a draft position where we can get a significant prospect.

Gillis is putting together an offer to bring Sundin out of retirement. Bold, bold move.

Sundin is too old. Gillis likes recently retired only. Maybe Lidstrom.

I like it Marwood. Pretty sure Bure still has something left in the tank as well.

His knees should be nice and rested. I'm willing to bet he'd still be faster than the Sedins.

Brutal. Torts says that Kassian is a project and needs work and when he finally has a good night he can't even get a real compliment. How long until he requests a trade as well.
- fiveandagame

Ugh. If you can't see that what Torts said IS a real compliment, you don't know sh!t about hockey. Anybody can stack 4 assists on any given night. You want your players to play a controlled responsible cerebral well rounded game. What Torts said is basically "don't jerk off to stats you morons, recognize the fact that Kassian finally put together an all around solid performance and his assists were a byproduct of that."

It would have made sense if he actually said that. What Torts said was that he liked the way Kassian dumped in the puck and he made good line changes.

Torts publicly calls Kassian a project and he has a lot of work to do. So is this what Torts has been working on with Kassian, dump ins and line changes?

I'm glad Kassian has finally figured out those two aspects of the game. I guess it was all that was holding him back.

Apparently Skinner will be made available at the draft as well. Can't see Staal waiving to come here if Edler is still on the team.

Kassian put up 4 points against Buffalo. Let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill.

His game and the consistent application of that game still have a long way to go before he fulfills what most believe his promise to be as a top 6 power forward. I'd say that is exactly what Torts called it: a project.

I don't understand the Canucks insistence on hyping an overage junior prospect. Comparing him to a first round pick? They are setting this kid up to fail. Anyone else see it like that?

They recently had the coaches awards for the OHL season and Dane Fox won several accolades. I'm guessing this is where some of the recent buzz is coming from.

It's just spin to give nervous season ticket holders hope. Unfair to the prospect for sure, but that's how this ownership/management group operates.

I agree with this 100%.

With that said, Kassian played his best game of the year (maybe even career) even if it was against Buffalo and the only thing Torts can comment on are line changes and dump ins.

Torts still could have said everything in bold but and at the same time recognize that he played pretty damn well last night.

I felt that his comments on Kassian were pretty much backhanded compliments.

Well, he is a bit of a d!ck advocating tough love. That can't really come as a surprise at this point. I just hope behind the scenes they continue to develop Kassian and everyone else properly. Don't really care too much about what gets said publicly as most pressers and interviews put me to sleep with their insincerity.

#Tanknation is back on. 7 games in a row versus playoff teams with Henrik, Burrows and Tanev injured.

I don't know , he could have handled it different . This team is 29 th in scoring. he could have said that was a nice game by a young player, the 4 points were helpful with the win but more importantly he played a complete game tonight.
