I get what you're saying, but how do you blame him for the 3rd goal? It changed direction 6 feet away. No one can react that quickly. Please bring some logic and lack of bias to the conversation. - jmatchett383
I hear that constantly It is never his fault. Always someone else who is at fault. Description of a goalie....Stop the puck....period. Playoffs in the past have been his fault. Horrible goals allowed. Bad timing of goals. Momentum breaking goals. Lack of concentration goals against. But never his fault. Team Canada did not trust him and people of Pittsburgh should not either. Open your eyes, Team Canada did |

Who is saying that his struggles weren't largely his fault? A mess in the Flyers series, and was on his way of costing the team the Islanders series. |

No one is saying that he's absolved of blame for the past 4 post seasons. And yes, last year, he let in some horrible back-breaking goals (which is why he lost his starter spot). All I'm saying is there is no way in hell any goalie makes that save. |

We get it, you don't trust Fleury. Pretty much everybody has concerns/nervousness about him going into the playoffs. Also, the consensus is that if he doesn't perform well in these playoffs, he should be gone after this season. Fact is, Fleury is all the Pens have right now. They are not going to do anything if they have to put an untested Zatkoff or a rusty Vokoun in net. Fleury has done it before (see '08 and '09), so there is a chance he can get into that form again.
Edit: Rusty Vokoun sounds dirty. |

Yeah, Yeah Fleury....Keep blowing smoke about this guy. Until he proves himself in the playoffs, nothing matters. He can stop everything in sight but the PLAYOFFS will tell the story. He was not chosen for Team Canada for a reason. NO TRUST. Until he proves them wrong, that will be with him FOREVER. Too bad for him that there are no shootouts in the playoffs. Somehow I knew last night that he would give up the tying goal, one way or the other. You can blame whoever you want but the truly good goalies don't give up those type of goals when you are trying to close out a game. It is now April and the pressure will be on this guy now, more than ever. I hope he does not fold like a cheap suit again. - holeinone
I don't think anybody anywhere can blame redirection shots on goalies. If your going to bash MAF at least choose an example that shows he did something wrong. Besides that horse has been beaten to a pulp, we all just have to wait and see. |

Good assessment gunner, I agree neal is on an island when he doesn't have a skilled center. Our pp has been caca lately and last night shouldn't b the template. I lost my lunch on the sutter no call, the definition of interference is right! The sad thing is they wont call that in the playoffs. Especially against detroit. I KNOW u love possession wtf did sid not try to win that face off instead of trying to shoot it out? |

Up until last season, I was kinda the same way as that angry poster. MAF always got a pass, and it was the defense...or injuries...or whatever. There were always excuses, and it was never him, and he was up on this untouchable pedestal.
Now, though, after last year, that tune has changed. The Islanders series showed that, maybe, it was (at least partially) him. Now, he's the clear-cut #1 going in, and there's no one else to turn to like Vokoun last year. We'll see in a week or two if he's turned the corner. |

As others have said, you seem to want to focus solely on the negative and are taking an overly simplistic view IMHO. As far as last night is concerned, you might want to get some perspective and realize that with the saves that MAF made to bail them out, the game doesn't get to overtime.
On a larger scale, I think everyone here would agree that MAF has a large share of the blame in their recent failures, but to be fair, he also should merit a large share of the praise for the cup win in 2009.
What the "people of Pittsburgh" think really doesn't matter. Its what the Pens brass thinks and since its been made abundantly clear that the Pens will sink or swim with him and doing anything but being supportive this year is a waste of breath and energy. So get over it. If he fails again, then it can be discussed in the offseason. |

I hear you can get one of those in some clubs north of the border, but you have to pay a little extra. |

I'll tell you what: Letang looked damn good last night.
I think their best (easiest) matchup is Columbus. But some fool yesterday wanted to play Detroit/Philly/Boston. |

"If you have it you don't need it.
If you need it you don't have it.
If you have it you need more of it.
If you have more of it you don't need less of it.
You need it to get it,
and you certainly need it to get more of it.
But if you don't already have any of it begin with
you can't get any of it to get started
which means you really have no idea how to get it in the first place, do you?
You can share it, sure.
You can even stockpile it if you'd like.
But you can't fake it.
Wanting it, needing it, wishing for it.
The point is,
if you've never had any of it, ever
people just seem to know" |

Crazy matchups, huh? The Flyers would rather play Pittsburgh and Detroit, and Pittsburgh would rather play Columbus and the Rangers. |
