So whats the big plans this year?
Do you give up this years pick to Buffalo? If not, what do the Islanders do to ensure next years pick isn't nearly as high for a much deeper draft? Will Snow still be GM by the start of the season?Top targets in free agency? I'm an Oilers fan, but I always liked the Isles, want them to do well. |

My gut tells me Snow is keeping this pick. Snow will be the GM unless Wang is able to sell the team by then and a new GM is appointed which is unlikely but possible. Our top free agency targets are 2 goalies, 1 top 6 forward, and maybe a top 4 d-man. I'd like to sign Hiller or Holtby and Vrbata but I'm not getting my hopes up because islanders. |

Our priority should be a top 4 Dman and a legit starting goaltender. Top 6 forward is last on that list IMO.
Edit; a new coach trumps all needs. The problem is Snow is incompetent and will keep this half wit on. |

the Islanders have to keep this pick.
Giving this pick to Buffalo to make sure they still have their pick next year is like admitting that next year will suck for the Islanders too, which is crazy.
With a healthy Tavares, and with what Strome, Nelson and Lee have shown, as well as some additional youngsters on the blueline next year, Islanders could definitely be a playoff team next year.
No way should the Islanders give Buffalo that pick this year. |

Isles main concern should be defense. Robidas or Meszaros I think would be a good fit |

I like to think the Isles will be better with the young talent you mentioned. Cappy maybe being back is a huge problem along with the team being asleep at the start of every season. It's a shame because with a couple of solid moves this team can be scary good. |

Its a tough choice now that we are picking fifth. I hear what you're saying and I agree to an extent but its widely speculated that the later picks in 2015 are stronger than some in the top five this yr. We will see how this plays out after the lottery. |

Agreed, but imo the biggest thing to address is goalie and obviously a new coach, but thats not happening. |

I think it's pretty obvious it's time to pull the plug on Josh Bailey and trade him. It always seems like he plays well the last month of the year, the Islanders finally think he has figured it out, and the first half of the following year he is a main reason why the team always has a worse 1st half then 2nd half. I think he has some trade value, despite the contract which looks bad at this point.
Goaltending is obviously the other issue with the Islanders, but, as someone who hates the Islanders, I agree, with a couple of moves and some luck, the Islanders could very well be scary good, which is why they should keep the pick this year and not assume next year will be another bad year.

Agree and agree. Incredible that Snow would keep Capuano on. He's so obviously not a good coach for multiple reasons. It's another example of how incompetent Snow is. If Snow had a pair and a brain he'd make a huge play for Schneider. Young and a very good goalie. He'd immediately turn this team around. IF we had a new coach and defensive strategy which as you said probably won't happen. |

I would not have a problem with trading Bailey. Isles have to send a message for once that not being ready to start the season will not be tolerated. We probably have to wait for a new owner hiring a new GM and coach though. It will be interesting to see what the Isles do with the pick. Arguments can be made for each side. |

Cappy should have been fired about 5 different times during the season. Whats the excuse for November, losing 6-0 to the Devils at home (I think that was the score)? Those are just two things that came to my mind. It shows how stupid Garth is by not seeing this. And I think Schneider is a great goalie, imo maybe even top 5. Even if we just get a goalie i think we'll see a big difference, but with Cappy being here I can't even predict anything other than losing every game in November. |

IMO, the Isles keep the pick and then trade it for an NHL top 4 D-man and a top 9 forward
or a starting goalie and a top 9 forward. |

You don't trade a #5 pick for a 4th defenseman and a 3rd liner. For what to just not be terrible in 2015. That's a waste of 2 seasons and no 1st round draft pick in either draft. |

Meh. Coaches don't cost much. Wang was willing to spend 7 million per on Vanek, 10 million per on Kovalchuck, I have a hard time not seeing him spend at most a million more on a coach. I know he's cheap but it doesn't make sense. |

We should probably trade Tavares and Okposo. That would be a great idea right? Look how it worked for Columbus when they got rid of Nash |

Depends on what u get back. Nobody is untradeable.
Are the islanders gonna be better than boston, Tampa, Montreal, Detroit, Pittsburgh, rangers, philly or Columbus next season? |

If you say yes I want you to explain why? If you say no then explain to me the benefit of keeping a 2014 pick over a 2015 pick? |

First off. I don't have to explain jack shat to some Sabres troll(which is funny in itself btw). You have not a clue about my team. The depth and the prospects already contributing. I've already played ring around the rosie with too many of you guys. If you can't figure it out you have zero business being on this thread bcs even most Ranger fans will agree with what I'm saying. |

How am I trolling? I look at your team differently than a homer would. I don't think in being dissrespectfull. If u don't like my opinions bcz they are different than yours just let me know and I'll leave. Right now, for all sabres fans the islanders are very exciting to us. |
