2/3 of our top line is invisible.....Vorecek is working hard, but the rest of that line just seems out of cink.....I'm not sure if Berube has reasons for not mixing up the lines but unless something gives this flop of the first line is going to sink them.....top pp minutes should be earned... - landros 2

If Mason makes that save, we would feel differently about that period. - PhillySportsGuy
Well, a little bit. I'd still be pissed at them, but I hear what you're saying.
It's so frustrating. It reminds me of the Devils series a few years ago. Same script every game.
Hopefully they can just stay scrappy and not roll over like that Devils series. I know they won't- they haven't rolled over all year |

Berube has had just about as awful of a series as you could imagine. Right up there with Lavy's series against the devils. |

The 5v5 play was promising that period. It was.
They need to come out in the second hard. It's the same refrain every game.
The Flyers have no business being down this game, but they are. Of course a flutter shot beats Mason. When's the last time CSP lets a goal like that through- deflected or not?
I just don't understand why the Flyers aren't finishing checks hard. It's stupid. That play with about 5 minutes left where Read got hit pretty hard just after he got rid of the puck- a Flyer would have peeled off right away. Just hit some damn bodies. - Giroux_Is_God
Its frustrating for sure. Giroux takes a mugging every shift, and NY is asserting themselves physically.
Just on Giroux, they do really need the others to step up. This team had what, 7 20 goal scorers? You need Hartnell, bSchenn and LeCavalier to contribute.
Simmonds 5 on 5 as well. Speaking of though, I am really done with that 10-40-17 line. I don't know why Berube keeps forcing this its obviously not working. Line-up changes needed to happen a long time ago, and I don't understand why things aren't being switched around.

Do you hold the whole team to that standard? No you don't. These are NHL players. At some point they all will make a good play. B Schenn large
Y has not a factor what so ever in this series. IMO he has put himself up on the trading block come the off season.
He's not the only one playing poorly but the flyers have a glut at center so someone has to go. - bird_dog_pa
No he doesn't. Schenn gets a pass on my comment solely based upon 2 plays on the powerplay. The nice pass to Voracek and the nice pass to VL when Akeson scored.

I do hold everyone to that level.
Giroux has no excuse for not burying that shot at the start of the game.
Hartnell, Giroux, Couturier, Simmonds, VL have pretty much been useless offensively to this point.
Im not moving Schenn because the Flyers have a lot of centers though. If they can move him to fit a need (1 or 2 dman) or a legit winger to go with Giroux and Voracek then I do. |

Exactly. I just don't see how a player like G misses that pass from Jake. - LJF
Giroux to this point in the series has not been good at all.....he's been a flop.....can't imagine a guy with that much talent losing all his confidence ? Mind boggling ! |

Its a little disturbing, the Rangers have had this series too easy imo.
Same thing as in game 4. Start engaging them physically, make them retaliate and feel some hurt. That's the key. Don't be robotic and scared of taking a penalty.
Down by 1 which you obviously don't want but they have played better. Gill has looked really solid.
Mason probably would want another chance at that one, but its the result of the Flyers chasing the play, and doing little to try and take the puck or the man. Again, physicality. - flyer_nutter
i thought gill was excellent. a bright spot so far, and i expected that.
i didn't think the shot was deflected by coburn...looked clean and it just caught the inside of his blocker. when they didn't hold up the play along the far boards in the neutral zone i had a bad feeling. simple looking harmless play and it's in the net.
need to tie this up in the 2nd period...we all know about the rangers and 3rd period leads. |

Not scoring on the PP is a recipe for this team to lose.
They need to ramp up the intensity a bit when they have the man advantage. |

Cannot be so stubborn, when essentially your only two threats so far on offense have been Giroux and Voracek as a duo. Switch it up.
Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-bSchenn-Simmonds
Akeson-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-LeCavalier-Hall
This needs to be done, because you are essentially getting nothing from the 2nd line as of now, and that 2nd PP unit needs a change as well. |

I'm not saying he's a bad goalie and should be benched. That's one he wishes he could have back. I still have confidence in him and I believe the team needs to pick him up like he did for them in the last game.
Their 5v5 play was strong. The top line spent almost all of their time in the offensive zone. They generated chances. I would like to see them shoot more, but I'd be more concerned if they weren't even getting anything going at all. |

Voracek has stepped up big time, I think. Hartnell not so much. But Hartnell relies on Giroux way too much. |

if the power plays were 20-11 our way i'm sure you guys would be ok with that.... - hogweed
the PP have been just. dont forget some of those were late in games where a comeback wasn't possible and just trying to "send a message". the rangers have controlled most of the series, usually PP will result in the team who is controlling. of course that's partially my biased as a rangers fan, but analysts around the league seem to agree. mason and emery are the sole reasons why this is an even series tho. mason is goina have to stay sharp for philly to have a chance |

The rangers get so many deflections go right to their guys. Yeah you make your own breaks sometimes but a puck deflecting off two players and going to an open ranger all the time isn't creating your own breaks. - bird_dog_pa
i've noticed this happens pretty much every time MSL's line is on the ice. it's amazing how many times pucks bounce their way. |
