Buckle up boys, this is gonna be insane.
Cannot play like you did last game cuz it's gonna be even harder to pull out that at the garden where the rangers well come out even harder.
Watching Gill play against this fast Rags team sounds like a nightmare, let's hope im wrong. |

It's all about gap control. When the game becomes a battle in the trenches rather than skating game, a defenseman like Gill (or Grossmann) is an asset in a playoff series. It's when the Rangers can generate speed through the neutral zone as they hit the blueline that you worry.

Great blog as usual Bill.
What do you think of giving more ice time to Giroux and Voracek and do you think putting Hartell back with Schenner and Simmonds is something that would jumpstart the attack ? |

I'm in favor of it. Actually, I would consider moving Raffl up to play with Giroux and Voracek and going with Hartnell with Schenn and Simmonds (a bad combo on paper but it worked well for awhile during season).

Let go Flyers! I like you guys way better than the Rangers! I don't know why but I just can't stand the New York Rangers! I love to see the Flyers play the Pens in the 2nd round! The Penguins to the Flyers are like spinach is to Popeye! |

I hope Gill doesn't play like a fish-out-of-water and I hope Gill doesn't flounder with the puck. Maybe he can help this team reel in a win. After all, Berube didn't make this move just for the Halibut.
Ok. Got it all out of the system.

Gill actually understands his limitations very well and moves the puck pretty quickly once he gets it. |

I thought gill played solid in the games he drew in this year. I think well be fine. I wonder if grossmann is gone for an extended period. |

Don't like the decision, but I'm okay with it. (Berube gets paid to make this decision--not me.)
My comments are made directly in jest of Halibut Gill's fishy name.
They are not meant as chum to bait critics of his play.
(Ok--now it's all out of my system.) |

For the love of Cod, man! That was bad. Eely bad.
If anything, Gill is quite good at angling people into the boards.

As long he has something left in the tank. Otherwise they will pick him apart like a sturgeon.

I've actually liked how Gil has filled in this season. Would have like to play him a little more to give players the odd game off for rest |

(Drops mic, walks off stage.)
Look--this is a pretty carpy decision for Gusty. I wonder what tipped the scales in Gil's favor and how long it took Cheif to mullet over. |

Yeah, that's the key right there. When the Flyers get dominated in the NZ, they're more or less toast. They improved there in the 2nd and 3rd of game 4... let's hope they can keep it up. |

There are clearly reasons to be concerned with Gill's speed, but Grossmann isn't the fastest skater either. I think his experience can help also. He is a big body that can bang around the Rags.
Dump the puck and pound the hell out of the Rags d-men. Stay out of the penalty box and keep those feet moving. One more thing play as a team. |
