I'm not saying he's a bad goalie and should be benched. That's one he wishes he could have back. I still have confidence in him and I believe the team needs to pick him up like he did for them in the last game.
Their 5v5 play was strong. The top line spent almost all of their time in the offensive zone. They generated chances. I would like to see them shoot more, but I'd be more concerned if they weren't even getting anything going at all. - PhillySportsGuy
the flyers had 2 powerplays and a lot of 5v5 time to get a goal
i'd be more concerned about our pathetic power play all season than the occasional bad goal a goalie lets in because all goalies let in bad goals from time to time |

Giroux to this point in the series has not been good at all.....he's been a flop.....can't imagine a guy with that much talent losing all his confidence ? Mind boggling ! - landros 2
He has been poor, but the coaching staff has done very little to try and get him and his line away from that Girardi/McDonagh duo which Alain is perfectly fine with as seen.
He needs to pick it up definitely, but he his being mugged every shift. I'd say that Ranger top line has had it pretty damn easy from a pain standpoint. |

No he doesn't. Schenn gets a pass on my comment solely based upon 2 plays on the powerplay. The nice pass to Voracek and the nice pass to VL when Akeson scored. - Flyersgod
Except I have ripped Giroux multiple times today for missing a blatantly wide open net.

Really people? He has Girardi and McDonagh on him all game long. It's not hard to see your stats go down when facing that pair. If he was facing, say, Timonen and Coburn like the Rangers, I'm sure he'd be putting up points. But if you can't tell that he is working his ass of then your blind. You want to be pissed at someone. Read and Timonen would be good bets. No hustle from either and lax with the puck. |

Seriously tho theyre not burying golden opportunities and its troubling... They did seem to control that period. Hopefully they can continue and increase the pressure and get the win. We'll see one period is not a game. |

Pretty obvious the Flyers were more concerned about clogging the neutral zone denying the Rangers speed into the zone. They're going to have to bury the chances they get because without a hard forecheck they aren't going to force many turnovers. On the flip side, it has limited the odd man rushes the Rangers have had in first periods the previous 4 games significantly. |

the PP have been just. dont forget some of those were late in games where a comeback wasn't possible and just trying to "send a message". the rangers have controlled most of the series, usually PP will result in the team who is controlling. of course that's partially my biased as a rangers fan, but analysts around the league seem to agree. mason and emery are the sole reasons why this is an even series tho. mason is goina have to stay sharp for philly to have a chance - hauger14
Plus your top scorer has been a no show....and your pp blows.....as far as Emery and Mason being the reason why this series is tied, your correct....in Hockey, goaltenders are a very important part of the team....

Im not concerned with the goaltending. I just said I have confidence in Mason.
I do have concerns about the power play. I have concerns long term as well. They need to adjust. They need to run the PP through Jake. Maybe slot a right handed shot in Hartnells spot or just flip Hartnell and Simmonds so Simmonds is in the high slot. |

I would agree with you. They could use another forward. They could use a sniper on the Giroux line. They could use Simmonds holding onto a puck and not playing hot potato. Imho, Simmonds has been the biggest disappointment. |

I hate to continue to beat this drum, and obviously far from a loss in this game let alone the series.
However if that does happen, its really a fail to have not switched up the lines when you are getting absolutely nothing from line two, going back pre-playoffs.
As well as that 2nd PP unit. I don't know what the point is here, sure they may not always be on the ice when you get score on but each members, or line needs to contribute positively 5 on 5. Not just be a "warm body line". |

Nope..Giroux needs to bury that shot. No excuse for missing it.
Mason should have made that save also. |

Not scoring on the PP is a recipe for this team to lose.
